Wednesday Highlights: Another hat-trick for Delic; Otters triumph in OT thriller

Erie Otters 5 at Guelph Storm 4 (OT)

  • The Erie Otters secured a comeback victory in overtime as Pano Fimis scored his 13th goal of the season in the extra frame
  • Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jett Luchanko put up a three point performance, including two goals in just his second game since returning from Canada’s World Junior team
  • Dylan Edwards recorded his second multi goal game of the season for the Erie Otters
  • Alex Messier recorded his first goal of the season to tie the game at 12:07 in the third period
  • Sam Alfano’s 22nd goal of the season late in the third period forced overtime for the Otters
  • Noah Erliden and Zachary Jovanovski both continued their solid play as of late for their teams. Erliden made 31 saves in the win, while Jovanovski stopped 33 shots in the overtime loss

Soo Greyhounds 1 at Sudbury Wolves 7

  • Kocha Delic notched his second hat trick in nine days as he finished with three goals and one assist for a four point performance
  • Delic and Luca Blonda scored 2:16 apart in the first period to give the Wolves an early 2-0 lead
  • Utah HC prospect Noel Nordh scored the lone goal of the game for the Greyhounds, marking his eighth of the season
  • The Wolves had an offensive outpour as they marked four unanswered goals in the first two period of play, and another three between the second and third periods after the Greyhounds lone goal
  • Chase Coughlan and Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton each had three point performances, as they both scored a goal and recorded two assists
  • Chicago Blackhawks prospect Alex Pharand had two assists including one on Kocha Delic’s opening goal

Flint Firebirds 2 at Brantford Bulldogs 5

  • Nick Lardis scored his 33rd goal of the season to move into the league lead in goals
  • Brantford stormed out to an early lead on three unanswered goals from Joshua Avery, Noah Roberts, and Cole Brown
  • Cole Brown’s goal would stand as the game winning goal for Brantford
  • Noah Roberts’ fourth goal of the season was his first goal at home for the Brantford Bulldogs
  • The Firebirds marked two goals, one coming late in the first period from Hayden Reid, and the other early in the second period courtesy of Alex Kostov
  • Buffalo Sabres prospect Ryerson Leenders had a solid performance in goal, making 26 saves in the win

Brampton Steelheads 3 at Ottawa 67’s 1

  • Newly acquired goalie Brayden Gillespie made his debut for the Brampton Steelheads, after allowing the first shot of the game Gillespie found his footing and stopped 26 shots to help his team to victory
  • Caden Kelly opened the scoring on the 67’s first shot of the game, this would be Ottawa’s lone goal of the contest
  • Lucas Karmiris recorded two assists on Jack Van Volsen’s game winning goal and Kieran Witkowski’s insurance marker
  • Spencer Bowes made his OHL debut for the Ottawa 67’s
  • Parker Von Richter opened the scoring for the Steelheads with his fourth goal of the season
  • Jaeden Nelson was busy in the 67’s goal as he stopped 40 shots in the loss

Barrie Colts 1 at Owen Sound Attack 5

  • Los Angeles Kings prospect Carter George returned to action for the Owen Sound Attack and his presence was felt in goal as he stopped 25 shots to give the Attack a huge win over Barrie
  • Masen Wray had a fantastic offensive night as he recorded the first multi goal game of his OHL career as well as the first three point game of his OHL career
  • Newly acquired players Owen Van Steensel and Anthony Romani both made their debuts for the Barrie Colts while Cole Zurawski made his Attack debut
  • Harry Nansi scored the game winning goal for the Attack in the second period, marking their third unanswered goal
  • Bode Stewart’s third goal of the season opened the scoring for the Barrie Colts
  • Emil Hemming also in his return from the World Junior Hockey Championship for team Finland scored on the powerplay late in the third period for the Colts second goal of the game
  • Declan Waddick scored an insurance marker for his team in the third period on a penalty shot
