Kennewick, Wash.- Tri-City Americans defenceman Austin Zemlak has announced his commitment to Arizona State University.
The 19-year-old alternate captain will join the Sun Devils for the 2026-27 season upon the conclusion of his WHL eligibility.
Zemlak has embarked on a career-best season with five goals and 16 assists in 36 games with the Americans, highlighted by his second-career three-point game, which came in a 7-5 win against the Moose Jaw Warriors on November 23, 2024.
The Fort McMurray, Alta. product also surpassed 50 career points earlier this season.

Originally drafted by the Victoria Royals with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Zemlak was acquired by the Americans in an offseason trade.
He’s tallied 15 goals and 39 assists for 54 points over 183 regular season games.
Zemlak also played a key role in helping Victoria return to the WHL Playoffs in 2023-24 and earned an invitation to the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2024 Development Camp.
Tri-City (22-16-3-1) looks to build off of a win over the Wenatchee Wild as they visit the Portland Winterhawks (25-16-2-1) on Friday, January 24.
