Say goodbye to the EOJHL and hello to the CCHL2.
After months of organizing, debate, and hard work, it appears the CCHL2 is ready to launch for the 2015-2016 season and beyond.
Scheduling is being worked on, and it looks like teams will play two home and two away games against division rivals. Teams will take on out-of-division foe’s once at home and once on the road, making up a 44 game regular season schedule.
Making up the West Division will be the Brockville Tikis, Prescott Flyers, Athens Aeros, Westport Rideaus, Perth Blue Wings, Renfrew Timberwolves, Stittsville Rams and Arnprior Packers.
The East Division is the Ottawa West Golden Knights, Clarence Beavers, Metcalfe Jets, Ottawa Canadians, Casselman Vikings, Alexandria Glens, Winchester Hawks and Char-Lan Rebels.
In what is going to be seen as probably the largest benefit of the CCHL2, the league will reduce travel expenses and make it more convenient for scouts to come watch games. Two showcases are being planned for the that will put two teams against each other that would have to travel greater distances for a regular season matchup.
Combine these items with the development model used by the CCHL, and you have a winning combination.
