NEW LISKEARD – The Cochrane Crunch scored four first period goals and never looked back en route to a 7-1 victory over the Powassan Voodoos Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League preseason neutral site contest held at Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena in New Liskeard.
With the result the Crunch wrapped up exhibition play with an impressive 4-0 record, outscoring their opponents 33-7 in the process.
Jason Berube had a pair of goals and an assist to pace Cochrane offensively while Jake Gevaart, Dustin Cordeiro, Reed Gregory, Dustin Deagau and Cody Gratton supplied singles.
Ryan Fletcher dished out a pair of assists for the Crunch who held intermission leads of 4-1 and 6-1.
Andrew Demarco had the lone Powassan marker in the first.
Troy Paquette made 28 saves to record the victory between the pipes for Cochrane.
Riley Akerman was pelted with 55 shots in a losing cause.
NOJHL preseason action concludes Sunday as the Voodoos entertain the Blind River Beavers in a 5:30 p.m. start at the Powassan Sportsplex
