Death Pool – Special Report – OHL Owners Son Leaves Team

Hey kids, what happens when a Junior Team Owners Son plays for the team daddy owns and he shouldn’t be playing for that team?  Well other than pissing every other player on the team off, and pissing off any players who were better and actually deserved the spot, you piss off fans as well.

Now I am not about to belittle the kid here.  Dad owns the team, and the kid was probably told he earned the spot.  Cant blame the kid here, but you can blame the father and the rest of the staff for putting the kid on the roster and putting him in a position to be humiliated.

Such is the case with now former Sudbury Wolves winger Connor Burgess.  The young Burgess has now left the team to pursue his education.  Nothing wrong with that at all, and it is probably a great decision for him as a person.

The son of Wolves owner Mark Burgess was put in a position to fail, and there is no other way to say it.

The fans let the younger Burgess hear it too with boo’s coming from the stands.  Not exactly what any parent would want for their child is it?

Hey, its not like the kid wasn’t a decent player.  He actually had decent hockey sense, and could see the ice well.  But the bottom line is he couldn’t skate at an OHL level and anyone who watched a game could see that.  You cant tell me his father and the rest of the staff couldn’t see it either, yet they put him in a position to fail.

Its not like this was a one season experiment either.  In three years, 95 games, he has three assists, one per season and a minus-25 rating.

So, lets hope this is the Death of fathers having their sons play on the teams they own!  Maybe one of the many league commissioners will propose a rule that bans the practice.  I know, I know, that would require someone to have some balls, but hey it was a fun thought wasn’t it? Ha Ha Ha

Before I go though, lets everyone wish Connor Burgess the best in school.  In the end, the kid did the right thing, and left a team he probably knew he shouldn’t have been on.  That dear readers is called integrity, maybe dad can learn a lesson.
