SIJHL announces Oct. 10 game to be forfeited

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that, upon further investigation, the Dryden GM Ice Dogs have forfeited their game played on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 vs. the Thunder Bay North Stars due to the use of ineligible players.

The Ice Dogs had three newly acquired players on their roster that played in the game, before being officially approved by Hockey Northwestern Ontario, as per Hockey Canada and Canadian Junior Hockey League regulations.

The SIJHL received full cooperation from Ice Dogs in the investigation and it was deemed the use of these players by the team was inadvertent.

However due to the violation, Dryden forfeits its original 4-3 shootout victory over Thunder Bay with the North Stars now being awarded the two points from the game and a 1-0 victory.
