Golden Horseshoe To Hold Seperate All Star Game From GOJHL

As TJHN has been reporting, the Golden Horseshoe Conference of the GOJHL is looking to become a league of its own once again.  That move was recognized by the GOJHL publicly, and was confirmed with the GOJHL excluding the Golden Horseshoe Conference from its annual All Star Game.

The GOJHL announced that their annual event would feature the Mid Western Conference vs. Western Conference, leaving the Golden Horseshoe out.

It appears now that the Golden Horseshoe is furthering its efforts to separate from the GOJHL by holding its own All Star Game.

Each team will nominate members of their teams for all-star status. The format will be players chosen from teams ranked first, fourth, fifth and eighth taking on players from teams ranked second, third, sixth and seventh. Each team will bring three goalies.

While there won’t be a prospects game, like the GOJHL, all players will be eligible to compete in the all-star game. In the GOJHL only players aged 18, 19 and 20 were eligible, while players 16 and 17 were forced to compete in the prospects game.

It appears now that there is no turning back from this separation and that there will soon be two Junior B leagues competing in the same geographic footprint.

GOJHL owners have made it clear that contrary to rumor, and although they believe they can compete at the Junior A level, they will not play outside the sanctioning of Hockey Canada.
