When I first met Zac Pearson, he was the same as many other players still chasing the dream of reaching the highest level of Pro hockey that he could. That was many years, many discussions, and many good times ago.
Since then I have watched him build a family, and business that has benefited many young men throughout North America who have since gone on to fulfil their own college hockey dreams.
Now, Zac needs our help. It was only a few days ago when I learned the news that Zac has a very agressive form of cancer. Shocked, and saddend are the only two words I can find to describe what so many of us feel.
Cancer is never something that anyone prepares to have eventually. It takes us by surprise, and leaves us all asking why? As we continue to ask why, we must also begin to ask how? How can we help Zac and his family navigate this treatment and hope for a positive result.
As Zac and his family embark on this journey of hope and healing we would ask that you help them along the way. Many costs are not covered by insurance, and I hope the hockey community can come together and help this family as they go through this process.
