It is time to give thanks. Thanks for all of the utter stupidity that the great game of hockey continues to allow us to hear about year in and year out. Thanks for all the cheap pay to play owners who hire bad coaches, and try to pinch a nickle until the coin actually cries out for mercey. We have so much to be thankful for, like these beauties;
Its not junior hockey when you hit the road in two vans and a trailer full of equipment for and eight hour trip, and players are taking turns driving while the coach sleeps off his hangover.
Its not junior hockey when after that same eight hour road trip you go to check into your Motel 6 and there are five players to each room and only two double beds per room.
Its not junior hockey when the team road dinner consists three crock pots filled with Hamburger Helper Mac and Cheeseburger, served with bread and butter and washed down with some high quality Walmart bottled water.
Its not junior hockey when the team arrives to the hotel on the itinerary, and the team credit card gets declined to pay for the rooms.
It is not junior hockey when the coach goes out drinking with the boys and tries to hook up with a high school senior.
Its not junior hockey when your roster numbers are so low that your coach and owner allows local players to play under players names who have already left the program.
Its not junior hockey when your team doesnt update its website, or social media in almost a year.
Its not junior hockey when you arrive at the rink for practice to find the dressing room locked and the cleaning staff at the arena tell you the ice bill hasnt been paid since the start of the season.
Its not junior hockey when the head coach misses practice because the owner was taking too long to bail him out of jail for the DWI he got early in the morning.
Its not junior hockey when a team is carrying four goalies and two of them have to dress out each game just to make sure regular players can get a break once in a while.
Its not junior hockey when your equipment manager is caught doing meth in the arena bathroom.
Its not junior hockey when your head coach is caught in a billet home with the billet coordinator/billet mom by the billet dad in a compromising position.
Its not junior hockey when the team General Manager signs local players to the team who only make the team because they can take a billeted player.
Finally, its not junior hockey if you play in the NA3HL Southeast division. Its more like shinny but everyone has matching gear, and nobody comes to watch but your mom and girlfriend.
