Jackson Walsh Commits To Notre Dame – Another Success Story

Detroit Catholic Central is widely recognized as Michigan’s leading high school hockey program, consistently nurturing well-educated and thoroughly prepared athletes who advance to junior and NCAA programs.

Jackson Walsh, the latest team captain from Catholic Central, has pledged his commitment to the University of Notre Dame for the 2026 season—an offer he gratefully accepted.

A three time State Champion at the Michigan State High School level and an honor roll student, Walsh caught the eye of Notre Dame’s coaching staff with his impressive hockey intelligence, unwavering work ethic, and steady growth in the sport.

High school hockey in Michigan often doesn’t receive the acclaim it deserves, yet Walsh’s performance has been nothing short of dominant among his peers this season. Additionally, his standout play in the Michigan Development Hockey League during the past  three off seasons only underscored his talent. The MDHL ranks as a premier fall development league where players regularly progress to compete in the USHL before stepping onto the NCAA stage.

The Made in Michigan summer league is also known for being a premier destination for players from The NHL, AHL, and NCAA ranks.  Its there that Jackson has been able to play with other players at higher levels who have been through this process.  Gaining those valuable veteran player insights has helped Jackson prepare for these moments.

For Walsh and his family, embracing an opportunity at Notre Dame is not merely a dream realized; it epitomizes academic excellence. Deciding to commit to such a prestigious institution was, without question, an easy decision.

Coaches and scouts alike praise Jackson Walsh for being intelligent, humble, and industrious. As he embarks on a summer of rigorous training in 2024, the question on everyone’s mind is: What’s next?

While awaiting the USHL’s upcoming Phase II draft, Jackson is preparing on and off the ice for next season.  With multiple offers to sign with Tier II clubs across the United States and Canada at hand, Jackson Walsh is excited for the challenges he will face in the future.
