The 2024-25 London Knights just can’t stop making history.
Two nights after teammate Easton Cowan broke the franchise’s all-time playoff points record, standout defenceman Sam Dickinson added his name to the Knights’ legendary legacy, setting a new franchise record for the most career postseason points by a defenceman.
With a dominant four-point effort in Game 4 of the OHL Championship Series (2G, 2A), Dickinson brought his career playoff total to 50 points, surpassing the previous mark of 46 set by Dennis Wideman (2000-04).
The milestone adds to what has already been a record-setting campaign for the 18-year-old. During the regular season, Dickinson tallied a career and franchise-best 91 points (29G, 62A) from the blue line, surpassing the long-standing records of Evan Bouchard (2017-18) and Rick Corriveau (1990-91).
“It’s pretty cool,” said Dickinson. “I think about Cowboy [Cowan] setting the franchise record yesterday, which is also an unbelievable achievement for him. We join some incredible company that have rolled through the London Knights through the years, so yeah – it’s a pretty cool feeling.”
Selected fourth overall in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection by the Niagara IceDogs, Dickinson was acquired by the Knights and has since blossomed into one of junior hockey’s elite defenders.
His career trajectory includes being named to the 2022-23 OHL First All-Rookie Team, earning Second Team All-Star honours in 2023-24, representing Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Juniors, and capturing the Max Kaminsky Trophy this season as the OHL’s Defenceman of the Year.
“He’s really brilliant the way he plays the game,” said TSN’s Director of Player Scouting, Craig Button. “He can play many important and hard minutes and has unbelievable confidence in his game and abilities. There’s no question that Sam Dickinson is ready for the NHL, and that is where he will be in the 25–26 season.”
As the San Jose Sharks’ 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, Dickinson continues to anchor the blue line for a Knights squad hungry to punch their ticket to the Memorial Cup in Rimouski, Quebec, for the second straight year.
Catch Game 5 of the series on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 pm on TSN 1/5 or streaming online on OHL Live.
