Met Junior Hockey League Approved For Expansion

Coming out of the USA Hockey Winter meeting, the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League is walking away with the new franchises requested.

While much debate was made of the USPHL absorbing the MNJHL teams, anyone else asking for expansion experienced a “cake walk” according to multiple sources.

How much of a cake walk?

If multiple accounts are to be believed, the Met league walked away with at least three new franchises and possibly as many as five.  This expansion would make it one of the largest junior leagues in North America.

Given the NA3EHL expansion, and other junior hockey franchise movement on the Eastern Seaboard, this high volume approval for one league will likely create additional pressure on the player recruiting market.

TJHN will update this story as more information becomes available.
