NAHL Kansas City Scouts Go Dark

The North American Hockey League lost another team last night.

The Kansas City Scouts began notifying players yesterday, while some players were on their way to Kansas City, that they were not going to play in the 2020-2021 season.

Citing the COVID-19 pandemic and the City and State guidelines that accompany the pandemic the team simply could not operate.

The Scouts, formerly the Topeka Pilots, had already conducted all camps and drafted players, as well as had returning players.

This option to go dark after collecting tryout camp money and holding players rights is simply nothing less than unprofessional.

Now players who had other options, in other leagues, are left to scramble to find a place to play at the last minute. Just like Corpus Christi and the others who will likely follow, we all can now see that these teams do not care about the players at all.

This will likely not be the last NAHL team to go dark this season. Multiple reports are that as many as five more are considering not playing this season.

Stay tuned as we expect more news shortly.
