Games of Oct. 10-16, 2023
Forward: Sam Blanton, Rockets Hockey Club
Blanton was a big part of the Rockets’ three-point weekend, as the ‘04 from Carrollton, Texas, scored a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Mercer and then was in on three of the five goals scored by the Rockets as they defeated Mercer Sunday, 5-4, in overtime. He scored the first and second goals for the Rockets and also assisted on one of Cam Bergeman’s hat trick goals – the last of which won the game for the Rockets.
Defense: Jameson O’Flynn, Jersey Hitmen
The ‘04 out of Columbus, Ohio, put together a string of four assists over three wins to help put the Hitmen on a current four-game winning streak. He had two helpers in a 5-2 victory over the Rockets Hockey Club on Oct. 11 and then added one in each of their wins against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. He was also a +6 with 31 takeaways over the three-game stretch.
Goaltender: Braedyn McIntosh, Jersey Hitmen
A repeat winner here, McIntosh has been on fire and has been in net for all four of the Hitmen’s recent wins. Over the three-game stretch between Oct. 11-15, McIntosh (‘03/Milton, Ont.) made 107 saves on 111 shots for a .964 save percentage, which included a 39-save shutout on Oct. 15, his first for his NCDC career.
Rookie*: Tyler Fogu, Jersey Hitmen
Fogu (‘04/Bayonne, N.J.) has had a huge Garden State hockey upbringing, including playing for the New Jersey Devils Youth and Rockets Hockey Club midget teams over the years, while also attending and playing for the Trinity-Pawling School. Now, he’s brought his skill set to the Hitmen, where he recently posted a pair of goals and three assists for five points in three games. He had the game-winner against the Rockets on Oct. 11 and again vs. the WBS Knights on Oct. 14 for two straight. He also added two assists vs. the Rockets and another vs. the Knights.
