Forward: Samuel Ciappa, Mercer Chiefs
Ciappa (‘05/Baldwinsville, N.Y.) played four games over four days, including three at the South Shore Kings Presidents Day Showcase, and he came out with two goals and six assists for eight points over that time. This included a 1-4-5 line against the Boston Jr. Rangers on Feb. 15, as the Chiefs were pushing towards an eventual 3-0 showcase run. The NCDC All-Stars selection now has 53 points in 44 games, good for fourth in league scoring.
Defense: Michael Calabrese, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders
Calabrese (‘05/Wantagh, N.Y.) scored two goals and added three assists for five points in three games during the South Shore Kings Presidents Day Showcase. The five-year P.A.L. veteran and Tier 1 Hockey Federation alum now has a career-best 17 points, more than double his 2023-24 output, in 39 games.
Goaltender: Cole Werthman, Mercer Chiefs
Werthman (‘05/Levittown, Pa.) stopped 46 of 47 shots for a .979 save percentage in his big Presidents Day Showcase victory against the Boston Jr. Rangers. He has given up just one goal in three appearances on 122 shots since Jan. 30, when he recorded his first of two straight shutouts. Werthman, who joined the Chiefs from the Worcester Railers JHC, now has a 4-3-1-0 record with a .931 save percentage.
Rookie: Jordan Laroda, Jersey Hitmen
Laroda (‘06/Stittsville, Ont.) made his NCDC and Hitmen debut at the South Shore Kings Presidents Day Showcase and certainly looked strong with five goals, including two goals in each of his first two games since joining from the OJHL. He is a product of multiple seasons at the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
Selection Process: Team coaches first nominate players, the League sends back finalists, and coaches are then able to further vote on finalists or nominate other players.
