NCDC New England Division Players Of The Month: November 2024

Forwards

Braxton Powers, Islanders Hockey Club

In his second consecutive Player of the Month nomination, Islanders Hockey Club Captain Powers (‘04/Raleigh, N.C.) finished November with five goals and seven assists, extending his eight-game point streak that began on Oct. 26. With 26 points in the season so far, Powers is tied for fourth in most NCDC goals and leads the Islanders for most points this year. In his fourth season with the Islanders, Powers is the all-time leading points scorer for the franchise with 118. 

 

Jack DesRuisseaux, South Shore Kings

The Sacred Heart University NCAA Division I-committed forward DesRuisseaux (‘04/Manchester, N.H.) is on a five-game point streak with the South Shore Kings, scoring a goal in all but one game in November. He registered 10 points (five goals, five assists) last month and is second in the franchise for most points scored this season. DesRuisseaux has 39 points across his two seasons with the Kings, registering 18 career goals and 21 career assists. DesRuisseaux earned honorable mention in last month’s Player of the Month nominations. 

 

Joseph Samango, Islanders Hockey Club

Samango (‘05/Havertown, Penn.) registered a seven-game point streak that began on Halloween, and he registered 10 points in November with three goals and seven assists. He scored two game-winning goals to kick off November, helping the team defeat the Boston Jr. Rangers two days in a row. Samango has 41 career points in two seasons with the Islanders, posting seven goals and 34 assists. 

Forward Honorable Mention: Niko Benjamin, Utica Jr. Comets

 

Defense

Gregor Jennersjo, South Shore Kings

In his NCDC rookie season, Jennersjo (‘04/Stockholm, Sweden) registered two goals and nine assists for 11 points across November, helping the South Shore Kings keep their 19-game winning streak, which tied the all-time NCDC record for best streak. He is in a tie for fourth highest-scoring defenseman in the NCDC this season, and second highest-scoring defenseman for the Kings franchise in 2024-25. 

 

Zachary Walsh, South Shore Kings

Walsh (‘05/Lake View, N.Y.) has been a key player for the South Shore Kings in their 19-game winning streak this season. The right defenseman scored two game-winning goals in November and registered eight points (two goals, six assists) across the month. In his rookie NCDC season, Walsh has three goals and 12 assists across 20 games. 

Honorable Mention: Luca Restauri, Boston Jr. Rangers

Goaltender

Prestyn Carter, Thunder Hockey Club 

In his second season in the NCDC, Carter (‘04/Macomb, Mich.) transferred to Thunder Hockey Club this month and is making his mark three games in. With the Thunder this season, he has 99 saves on 106 shots for a .934 save percentage, and he is 2-1-0-0 overall with the Middleton, Mass.-based club since joining at the end of October in a trade with Idaho Falls. 

Honorable Mention: Mason Jones, Boston Jr. Rangers

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
