Islanders Hockey Club 6, Worcester Jr. Railers 4

The Islanders jumped out early and were up 5-1 after the second period, before the Railers put up a strong comeback attempt. Alexei Filimonov (’04/St. Petersburg, Fla.) scored two goals and an assist to lead the Islanders. Alternate Captain Matthew Babineau (’04/Malden, Mass.) also scored twice, Troy Hayes (’06/Windham, N.H.) had two assists and Captain Braxton Powers (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) put up a 1-1-2 line. Ryan Crowshaw (’04/Avon, Conn.) stopped 28 of 32 shots in the win, his third in a row. For the Railers, Brett Wall (’04/Washington, Mich.) also had a 2-1-3 line.

 

Oct. 2

Utah Outliers 2, Ogden Mustangs 1 (OT) 

Chase Nyitray (’06/Maumee, Ohio)  and Makar Klochkov (’04/Lake Elsinore, Calif.) each dished out two assists, including on the OT game-winner by Magzhan Sagadiev (’05/Almaty, Kazakhstan). American International College recruit Marcus Ouellet (’04/Toronto, Ont.) made 31 saves on 32 shots.

 

South Shore Kings 3, Boston Jr. Rangers 0 

Lukas Fursten (’05/Trebic, Slovakia) made 18 saves in the Kings’ fourth straight win of the season, putting them at 4-1-0-0 thus far. Will Rassier (’04/Princeton, N.J.) scored twice and stands as the No. 1 point scorer in the NCDC entering Thursday, with a 5-5-10 line. Jake Kavanagh (’05/Montreal, Que.) registered two assists.

 

Pueblo Bulls 3, Rock Springs Grizzlies 2 (OT) 

In the second of three games on the day at the NCDC Frozen Futures, the Bulls got an OT goal from Hunter Bill (’04/Green Bay, Wis.) and Devin Peck (’05/Colorado Springs, Colo.) made 28 saves on 30 shots for the win. The Bulls were ahead 2-0 as late as 8:51 of the third when the Grizzlies rallied to force the overtime.

 

Idaho Falls Spud Kings 2, Casper Warbirds 0 

The Spud Kings improved to a league-best 5-0-0-0 record, and they are one of three teams to not have lost at any point of a hockey game thus far. Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) made 28 saves for his league-leading second shutout of the season, and second in three games. Second-year Spud King Will Donovan (’04/Zionsville, Ind.) scored the eventual GWG at 14:37 of the first period.
