NCDC Roundup: Oct. 4, 2024

Pueblo Bulls 5, Casper Warbirds 2

The Bulls got two goals from the 2023-24 USPHL Premier Fans Choice MVP Siamion Marshchanok (’05/Minsk, Belarus). Twin brother and fellow former Premier standout Matsvei Marshchanok added two assists for the victorious Bulls. Quinn Smith (’06/Madison, Wis.) enjoyed his first NCDC goal and an assist. David Cinka (’05/Czechia) played in his first North American game on Friday and got the win, making 22 saves on 24 shots.

 

Thunder Hockey Club 8, Seacoast Spartans 2 

The Thunder Hockey Club improved to 4-0-0-0 on the season, after a big 8-2 victory against Seacoast. Returning Thunder Roman Wainwright (’05/Detroit, Mich.) registered a 2-1-3 line. Three additional players registered a goal and an assist – Evan Luxford (’05/Sun Prairie, Wis.), Regnars Jansons (’05/Liepaja, Latvia) and Shawn Laperriere (’05/Mascouche, Que.)  Michael Calabret (’05/Hudson, Ohio) stopped 26 of 28 shots for his first NCDC win.

 

Mercer Chiefs 3, Connecticut Jr. Rangers 2

Mercer earned a 3-2 victory, notching their first win of the 2024-25 season. Nolan Collison (’05/Hillsborough, N.J.) scored the GWG with his first junior goal. Zachary Brady (’04/Middletown, N.J.) had two assists, and Chiefs veteran goalie Dominick Gatto (’05/St. Charles, Ill.) made 42 saves on 44 shots.

 

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 4, Rockets Hockey Club 1

Defenseman Joseph Mariotti (’05/Old Forge, Pa.) scored twice, and Emmanuel Pepin (’05/St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) made 33 saves on 34 shots to give the Knights a home victory on Friday. WBS improved to 3-2-0-0 on the season.

 

Rock Springs Grizzlies 3, Utah Outliers 2 (SO) 

Bravery Esplin (’06/Encinitas, Calif.) scored the game-winning shootout goal to give the Grizzlies their first victory of the 2024-25 season. Brady Johnson (’05/Brainerd, Minn.) scored both regulation goals for Rock Springs, and on the other side it was Onni Puikkonen (’05/Tampere, Finland) for the Outliers. James Mikos (’05/Seymour, Conn.) earned his first junior victory in stopping 28 of 30 in 65 minutes and four out of seven shootout attempts.

 

West Chester Wolves 5, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 1

The Wolves kicked off their first-ever NCDC game at home by having former Philadelphia Flyers Dave “The Hammer” Schultz and Bernie Parent drop the ceremonial first puck. From there, it was all Wolves. Five different goal-scorers put up the offense, including Charles Becnel (’04/West Chester, Pa.) with a goal and an assist and Joshua Swan (’04/Chateauguay, Que.) put up a 1-2-3 line. Emil Szepesi (’06/Timra, Sweden) registered two assists, and Griffin Davis (’05/Nashua, N.H.)  earned the win in net.

 

Ogden Mustangs 3, Idaho Falls Spud Kings 1

The Mustangs handed the Spud Kings their first loss of the season in the NCDC Frozen Futures finale. The Mustangs got a goal and an assist from Brody Simko (’04/Butler, Pa.) and Troy Hunka (’06/North Canton, Ohio). In net, Hunter Bauer (’06/Bristow, Va.) was on fire with 34 saves on 35 shots.
