New England Wolves Raises over $50,000 for the Cure Starts Now

The New England Wolves Hosted their Annual JBT game at the Merrill Fay Arena on January 17th and raised over $50,000.00 for the Cure Starts Now foundation to battle childhood cancer.

The annual event allows shooters to fundraise amongst their local community and compete in a mini 1 on 1 shootout challenge during the intermissions of the Junior game played on that evening.  This year’s matchup featured the hometown Wolves vs the Islanders Hockey Club from Massachusetts.  In front of a packed crowd of 500 fans, the event is one of the highlights of the year on the Lakes Region calendar.

In total more than $50,000.00 was raised including local Gilford High School freshman raising $9,562.00 individually.

The shootout was won by Brooklyn Rainey, and the Wolves emerged victorious in an 8-3 triumph.  Latvian native Andis Rupeiks recorded a hat trick.

Thank you to all who participated, and in particular the The Thompson Family, the Islanders Hockey Club, the Merrill Fay Arena staff, and the USPHL.
