NOJHL Blackhwaks Make Coaching Change

Aaron Corbiere was hired to coach the Mattawa Blackhawks just a few days prior to the 2014 season start after a late summer departure of the original coaching hire.  An incomplete and inexperienced roster did not help matters any, and though changes have been made, new ownership has decided to pursue a different direction on the bench.

Enter Taurean White.

Taurean began his coaching career with the Nepean Raiders in the CCHL as an assistant coach from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 he became the head coach of the OEMHL Eastern Ontario Wild Midget AAA program.  In the 2013 – 2014 season, he coached the CCHL Brockville Braves leading the Braves to a 35-24-0-3 record.  And this season he plied his skills as an assistant coach in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the Battleford North Stars.

White has experience as a player at the Junior A, NCAA D-III, and Canadian University systems.  The young man has already been there and done that when it comes to hockey experiences and travel.

White made his Mattawa coaching debut last night and will look to get his first win behind the bench today against the Powassan Voodoos.
