OHL Overtime Heroes Program has raised $10,000 for charity so far in 2025 playoffs:
Overtime winning goals from Luca Romano (Mercer’s Mission), Gage Heyes (Almost Home Kingston), Caeden Carlisle (Parkinson Canada), Zayne Parekh (East Side Soup Kitchen) and Marek Vanacker (Canadian Transplant Association) have generated a grand total of $10,000 toward charitable foundations so far in the 2025 OHL Playoffs. Keep an eye out for more overtime goals on tonight’s seven-game schedule.

Kingston Frontenacs forward Jacob Battaglia has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames. Selected by Kingston in the second round (27th overall) in the 2022 OHL Draft, the 19-year-old forward has recorded 182 points in 201 games with Kingston. Battaglia was selected in the second round, 62nd overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2024 NHL Draft. Details

Owen Sound Attack overage defenceman Alec Leonard has announced his commitment to The Bentley University Falcons for the upcoming 2025-26 NCAA hockey season. Details

OHL mourns the loss of Mark Laforest:
The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of former North Bay Centennials and Niagara Falls Flyers goaltender Mark “Trees” Laforest, who passed away on Monday at the age of 62. The Welland, Ontario, native began his major junior career with the OHL’s Niagara Falls Flyers in the 1981-82 season. He remained with the team through its relocation the following year, becoming part of the newly named North Bay Centennials. Read more
OHL mourns the loss of Robert Frayn:
The OHL is saddened by news of the passing of alumnus Robert Frayn, a defenceman who played three seasons between North Bay, Belleville, Kitchener and Windsor from 1989-92. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Frayn has passed away this past week at the age of 53.
Attack alumnus Joshua Samanski signs with Oilers:
The Edmonton Oilers announced Wednesday afternoon their signing of Josh Samanski to a two-year entry level contract. The contract is set to take effect in the 2025-26 hockey season. The 23-year-old German is a former Attack player from the 2019-2020 OHL season, recording four goals, 16 assists and 20 points with the team in 54 games played. After his time with the Attack, Samanski moved to the Straubing Tigers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Details
OHL graduate David Tomasek signs with Edmonton:
Former Belleville Bulls forward David Tomasek has signed a two-year entry level contract with the Edmonton Oilers. The 29-year-old has excelled with Farjestads BK of the Swedish Elite League, recording 57 points (24-33–57) over 47 games this season. Tomasek played in Belleville from 2013-15 and has spent the past 10 seasons between Czechia, Finland, Russia and Sweden.
