OJHL Nieuwendyk hangs on, beats LHJQ St. Louis 4-3

Liam Grande gave OJHL Nieuwendyk the lead in the first period, and LHJQ St. Louis was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-3.

Grande provided OJHL Nieuwendyk with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:03 into the first period. Connor Armour assisted on the tally.

OJHL Nieuwendyk got the win behind a great game by Grande, who had two goals and one assist.

OJHL Nieuwendyk also got points from Alex Riche, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tyson Bruce also scored for OJHL Nieuwendyk. More assists for OJHL Nieuwendyk came via Austin Brown, who had two and Anthony Repaci and Jeremy Wu, who each chipped in one.

LHJQ St. Louis put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OJHL Nieuwendyk to score on any of its six power plays.

LHJQ St. Louis was led by Jeremy BROWN, who finished with two goals and one assist. BROWN scored the first of his two goals at 3:09 into the second period to make the score 3-2 OJHL Nieuwendyk. David BEDARD picked up the assist. BROWN’s next tally made the score 4-3 OJHL Nieuwendyk with 7:50 left in the second period. BEDARD assisted on the tally. LHJQ St. Louis also got a goal from Cedric MONTMINY as well. In addition, LHJQ St. Louis received assists from Michael RHEAUME, who had one.

OJHL Nieuwendyk incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. LHJQ St. Louis incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
