Saskatchewan Junior League Pushes Back Start To October

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League sent an email out on Monday to its twelve member teams informing them that the planned September 25th start will have to be pushed back to October.

While Canada has begun to re-open for hockey in some provinces, the country is taking a very conservative approach to getting started. And that is a great thing.

While everyone wants to get back to playing, not everyone should. The Junior Hockey leaders in North America only have one chance to get this re-start right. Getting it wrong will likely cost someone their life.

The start date was pushed back due to the Ministry of Health saying the September date was simply too early. More time was needed to examine the plans for allowing spectators in the buildings.

With October 9 set as the new start date, league officials are still planning for a full season.
