Team Illinois adds Daniel Carcillo as the 15U coach

Team Illinois is excited to announce the addition of Daniel Carcillo to it’s U15 coaching staff, for the 2016/2017 season. The former Blackhawk played 10 seasons and in 429 regular season games, playing 3 of those seasons with the Blackhawks and winning 2 Stanley Cups with the team in 2013 & 2015. Daniel will join Team Illinois immediately and will take part in the upcoming Spring Development Program.

Carcillo, originally from King City, Ontario is very much looking forward to participating as Head Coach of TI’s U15 program, and plans to use the job as both continuing a second career in hockey, as well as a stepping stone in transitioning into life after the game. Along with committing to dedicate his time to the U15 program, Daniel is also dedicating much of his time to helping other athletes transition into life after their playing careers are over, by creating the non-profit Chapter 5 (www.chapter5foundation.com).

Throughout his career, Daniel was known as a heart and soul player, who gave his all every shift of every game. Daniel played the game with his heart on his sleeve, was a fantastic teammate, and could always be counted upon to bring the same hard working mindset to each game and everything he does. His passion for hockey was clearly visible each time he stepped onto the ice, and Team Illinois is thrilled to add Daniel’s passion to it’s coaching staff.

For the young players that will be fortunate enough to play under Daniel, they can expect a coach who will be committed to their development both on and off the ice. Daniel’s NHL experience provides great knowledge and insight that Daniel will use to the benefit of his player’s development. To be able to learn from a coach like Daniel, who just months ago was learning from one of the most successful and well respected coaches in the game today in Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, the players at Team Illinois will be in an optimum position to learn and advance their careers to the next level.
