The Death Pool – Misleading And Deceptive Team Tryout And Showcase Advertising

Ohhhhhhh snap kids, we are gonna piss off some people today!  No better way to make a Monday really feel like a Monday than to take a big old dump in someone’s bowl of Cheerios!

See I got turned on to this deal a few weeks ago after our publisher spoke to some higher ups in the USHL.  After that conversation the boss figured I was the perfect guy for the job.  Why would he think that?  Well because I have a few little spy’s out there I like to call on to do some dirty work from time to time.

So, lets ask the question……..

How many of you kids are getting emails from AAA teams, and Junior teams that use the USHL logo, NTDP logo, and other logos that represent organizations or leagues that are held in high regard?  You know, emails that make it look like these teams are actually affiliated or endorsed by the USHL or NTDP.

You know, something like this;

bullshit

Well guess what kids. This is just another example of people claiming or making it look like they are something they are not.

If you look at that little snap shot there kids it says, “All The Best Under One Roof”.  Makes it look like the USHL, and the NTDP are all located in one place.  Funny thing is, the USHL and NTDP aren’t located in Connecticut you morons!  They don’t even play exhibition games in Connecticut!

See, if your email doesn’t come from a USHL team, or the NTDP, they don’t have permission to use the logo.  Oh yeah, and the USHL doesn’t have a midget league in case some of you are a little confused about the emails from those teams.

There is a little thing called a “copyright” on the USHL and NTDP logos.  You know, that little thing that can get your ass sued if you take or use something you don’t have permission to use.

So if you get any more of these emails, just send a copy over to me at [email protected] and I will be happy to publish them.  The next idiots that do this stuff will have their names published.

Isn’t it great when we are not even into the official tryout season yet and stupid people are doing stupid things?!  I really wonder what some people are thinking some times.

It looks like there are more showcases out there that are making some pretty bold claims too.  You know, like the claims that all kinds of scouts are showing up from the USHL the NAHL and Canadian Tier II.  Guess what kids, no one important is going to scout a showcase in Ft. Wayne Indiana or Canton Michigan that is either run by the GMHL or has nothing but Tier III or GMHL players.

Another little clue kids, just because someone says someone attended in the past doesn’t mean it happened or that they will come again.  How about looking at where the players who attended the event in the past end up?  That’s gonna tell you the level of play which will tell you the level of scouting.

If they all go to the GMHL or Tier III, chances are that’s where you’re going if you go there.  If the event sends a lot of kids to the USHL, NAHL and Canada Tier II, then you might just have found a winner.

Little clue about scouting there kids…….Scouts don’t care about going to see a lot of teams in one place, they care about the quality of players.  In fact, if you ask a real scout they will tell you they don’t want to go try to watch 20, 30, or 40 teams in a day because you lose track of players.

If you’re getting confused about which events to go to, just drop me a line and I can help you sort it out.  There are a few great events out there, but people are trying to rip off some of those events, or confuse people by using similar names, so you have to make sure to get to the right place.

But hey, if you decide to attend one of these events and you find that all you get are GMHL and fringe Tier III team tryout offers don’t say I didn’t warn you.  You know, kind of like, hey kids when the stove is on and you see a flame, the stove is hot, so don’t put your hand on the stove.  Hilarious though cause I know some of you are already reaching out to touch the stove to see if its really hot!

Hey kids, get ready for our spring cleaning sale.  We will have team labeled body bags on sale early this year.  With more pay to play expansion teams starting up this year, we got us an early run on teams already offering contracts to kids for next year!

The early over under number for teams folding this year is 20.  A much lower number this year, but the line can change depending on what a few leagues announce this spring.  But we here are looking for a minimum of 20 teams to fold this silly season.  Stay tuned folks, it all starts in a few weeks.

Also, stay tuned on some real ball busting stories I am working on.  I mean the kind that actually exposes a few people for the scams that they are.  Just waiting on a few more tidbits of info and we are gonna blow some of these idiots out of the water.
