The Death Pool – GMHL Mackenzie Mountaineers Dead Or Alive?

The GMHL West Mackenzie Mountaineers a silent. Are they alive? Can someone hold a mirror over the nose and mouth of this team for a sign of life please?

With the first four of their GMHL West games already cancelled on October 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th, it appears as though we are having an admission to the life support unit of the Death Pool.

No player announcements. Shitty logo. Shitty website. Yep, all of the critical factors found in most teams that fail to get off the starting block.

Combine this with another GMHL West expansion disaster in Gibbons with the team playing games with less than ten players on the roster, you have another fantastic Death Pool viewing option.

The GMHL, what can we say that hasn’t been said a thousand times around the world. The league designed to milk unsuspecting parents of thousands of dollars every year is still alive. How? Who knows.

Maybe it’s because there are so many parents and players who simply do not want to look in the mirror and understand that they are not really legitimate University or Pro hockey prospects, but they have enough money to pay to keep the dream alive.

Its sad really when you think about it. When other leagues and other legitimate teams would take some of these players and give them a legitimate opportunity to advance themselves, but they fall for the same old recruiting lies year after year.

Some people think that I have a problem with the GMHL being independent or “unsanctioned”. I really don’t have any problem with that at all.

The problem is that the GMHL says they are Tier II junior hockey when in fact the best players in the GMHL are former Tier II players who were third and fourth line guys when they played Tier II. Most of them in the lowest rated Tier II leagues in North America.

The other problem I have is how the GMHL does business. When you call yourself Tier II but deliberately recruit players who are not of Tier II caliber to pay $10,000 a year plus billet you are taking advantage of people. You become no more than a carnival hustler selling baseballs to knock down three pins.

Lets all keep an eye on these two “proud members” of the GMHL and see how proud they make the league and the players who were dumb enough to fork over thousands for a handful of magic beans.
