You know, the title of this article was going to be “GOJHL’s Buffalo Regals Are Now Deader” because you couldnt get much more dead than the joke that was on the ice claiming to be a junior hockey team! But, my boss pointed out that “deader” isn’t a word so we just went with “dead”. That’s for all you spelling and grammar Nazis out there that I hear from regularly.
So yeah, the joke is finally over. The Buffalo Regals are dead. You think it had anything to do with facing some of the truths in the article my boy Brandon from In the O’Radio wrote last week? Nahhhhhhh Oh well, sorry Brandon, we don’t need to run the story you submitted for this week on how to fix the Regals now. My bad buddy, maybe I should have run it on Friday.
I mean this whole Regals thing started out kinda funny. Its hard not to laugh when any team starts out losing their first four games by a combined score of 45 to 0!!!! That’s right the first four games they didn’t score a goal and allowed 45 of them! If that’s not funny I don’t know what is.
Now I am not taking a shot at the kids on this team here. This was a team full of kids that should have been playing Midget hockey not junior hockey. They were put in a position to fail by the adults in charge of this shit show. I am also taking a shot at the league and the OHA here. You dummies knew this team couldn’t succeed. Yet you had to approve them to come back and by some accounts, someone decided to force the GOJHL to accept the team back! Now how the hell is that good for the game? How is that good for development?
Embarrassing. A league I really like and watch a lot of should know better or care more. This isn’t exactly going to help your argument to be labeled Junior A.
Now I am really pissed because I had this team included in my “over under” article scheduled for next moths holiday break story. So, now I have to completely recalculate things. Thanks for the extra work dummies.
On another note, the Buffalo Regals youth hockey program just added a lot of players to their age specific programing. Now that’s something positive to come out of this. Just a reminder everyone.
The reason there is U-18 and U-16 is because that’s where the great majority of players in those age groups should be playing. So if you parents and coaches stop the bullshit of trying to force players into situations where they don’t belong, we probably wont have things like the Regals.
