I got to say, normally I don’t like to call out another writer on anything, but all the whining and sniveling about the NHL draft and teams tanking being done by the press is just stupid.
You know who whines the most? The Canadian Press. Yeah, sorry, but you do. Everyone is bitching about Buffalo and Phoenix tanking up in Canada. Well, those two teams didn’t make the rules, all the owners voted on them remember?
The worst offenders of the whine are Edmonton and Toronto. Get over yourselves will you!
Did Pittsburgh tank in order to get Crosby and Malkin? Did Montreal tank to get Galchenyuk, Subban and Price? Or, speaking of Edmonton, have they been tanking for the last five years or so? Yeah you know with picks like Yakupov, Hall, Eberle, and Nugent-Hopkins?
I get it, all everyone thinks McDavid should head back to Canada right? Booo Hooooo you still having a hard time getting over the Gretzky trade? I mean its pretty damn clear that the number one pick doesn’t assure you of anything. Otherwise Edmonton would be kicking ass every year!
Lets call it what it is, its people whining because their teams weren’t smart enough, or were just too good to get in the McDavid – Eichel sweepstakes. I don’t hear fans from Los Angeles whining? I sure don’t hear them in Detroit, New York, Chicago or Nashville.
Lets call it what it is. Phoenix has sucked since they invented sucking! Buffalo started their rebuild as soon as they got rid of Ryan Miller last year. But for all those bitching about Buffalo, isn’t Buffalo usually very competitive? When was their last rebuild, fifteen years ago?
Edmonton has been to the playoffs once in the last ten years! Toronto has been to the playoffs twice in the last ten years! Phoenix has been to the playoffs three times in the last ten years. Buffalo has been to the playoffs four times in the last ten years.
Now you tell me who has been tanking for the last decade?!
