USPHL Premier 2023-24 South Region Players Of The Week

Week of Oct. 6

(Games Played Sept. 25-Oct. 2)

Florida Division

Forward: Ethan Dominy, Tampa Bay Juniors

Dominy (‘03/Minnestrista, Minn.) racked up five goals in two games in a weekend sweep of the Florida Jr. Blades, including four goals in Saturday’s win that included the GWG. Dominy currently has six goals and one assist in the first four games of his second season.

Defense: Benjamin Linnansaari, Tampa Bay Juniors

Linnansaari (‘05/Fredericton, N.B.) had a strong weekend with a goal and two assists to post three points in the sweep of the Jr. Blades, who only got a combined 38 shots on goal for two games against the TBJ “D” core.

Goaltender: Kaden Hladunewich, Palm Beach Typhoon

The Typhoon were not able to get the victory they were looking for, but it might have been worse if not for the efforts of Hladunewich (‘04/Sherwood Park, Alb.). On Sunday, he stopped 50 out of 54 shots faced for a .926 save percentage. He is in his second Premier season and first with the Typhoon.

Southeast Division

Forward: Mauritz Persson, Potomac Patriots

The second-year Pat, an ‘03 from Taby, Sweden, scored in three out of the four games at the BJB Shootout last weekend. All in all, he finished with three goals and six assists for nine points, including 1-2-3 performances against the South Shore Kings and Junior Bruins and four helpers against the defending National Champion Northern Cyclones.

Defense: Knut Hornkvist, Potomac Patriots

Hornkvist (‘04/Ornskoldsvik, Sweden) put together a strong one-goal, four-assist performance over his first junior showcase event, helping the Patriots to go 3-0-1-0 in Marlborough, Mass. They’re on to the next showcase, the USPHL Southeast Showcase, this coming weekend in Morrisville, N.C.

Goaltender: Rocco Stolz, Charlotte Rush

A returning Premier All-Star, the ‘04 from Denver, Colo., put together his best performance out of his three wins so far, making 42 saves on 43 shots in a 6-1 victory against the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes.
