USPHL Premier Canada Division Players Of The Month: December 2024

Forwards

Thomas St-Louis, Universel Collège Gatineau

St-Louis (‘07) averaged 2.75 points per game in December, registering four goals and 11 points over four games. The Premier rookie is Universel Gatineau’s points leader this season, with 37 points and counting over 28 games played so far. He is the seventh-highest-scoring rookie in the league. St-Louis is set to continue a seven-game points streak he began on Dec. 23. 

 

Gabriel Boivin, Universel Sherbrooke

Boivin (‘08) continued a five-game points streak from Nov. 30, posting four goals and five assists to average 2.25 points per game in December. He has 33 points in his first Premier season, with 13 goals and 20 assists. With 28 games under his belt, he is the second-highest-scoring player for Universel Sherbrooke this season. 

 

Sander Selvaer, Somang L-L Hockey

Selvaer (‘04/Stavanger, Norway) continues to stand out as a Premier League rookie, scoring eight points over four games in December, continuing a six-game points streak he started on Nov. 25. He has played 27 games with Somang and has 26 points and counting (12 goals; 14 assists).

 

Forward honorable mention: Victor Proulx, Universel Sherbrooke

 

Defense

Mathias St-Laurent, Universel Collège Gatineau

St-Laurent (‘05/Amos, Que.) put up five points for Universel Gatineau, scoring two goals and three assists in December. In his second Premier season, St-Laurent continues to shine as a blueliner. He has 37 career points over 59 games. This season, he has scored two game-winning goals, adding to his season total of seven. 

 

Odile Grenier, Montreal Black Vees

Grenier (‘07/Lévis, Que.) is the Black Vees’ highest-scoring defenseman this season with 22 points. The rookie added five points to his scorecard in December, scoring one goal and five assists over five games played, putting up points in all but one game over the month. Out of 31 games played so far, he has five goals and 17 assists. 

 

Defense honorable mention: Yehor Chyzhevskyi, Kingston Wranglers

 

Goaltender

Simon Thibault, Universel Sherbrooke

Thibault (‘04) went 2-0 in December, making 84 saves on 90 shots for a .933 save percentage. He is 5-4-0-1 in his second Premier season and first with Sherbrooke. He has a .908 career save percentage. 

 

Goaltender honorable mention: Marcus Gomes, Universel Collège Gatineau

 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
