Caden Cavalieri, Columbus Mavericks
Cavalieri (‘04/Amherst, N.Y.) was hot out of the gate with a three-assist game in his first match, then a four-goal game – along with another three assists – in Game 2. All told, he crossed the finish line for Players Of The Month with 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 13 games, averaging exactly 2.0 points per game. This performance saw him raise his three-year Premier career totals to 83 points in 80 games.
Brayden Goncalves, Red River Spartans
Goncalves (‘04/Kelowna, B.C.) put together what is currently the seventh longest point streak of the season, as he racked up a 10-15-25 line in just 11 games between Sept. 13 and Oct. 5. He registered 26 points in 13 games to the end of October, and his 77 points in 87 games rank him fourth in Spartans’ team history.
Cameron Krause, Toledo Cherokee
Krause (‘05/Channahon, Ill.) was feeling generous from the outset of the season, putting up 16 assists along with four goals for 20 points in 10 games to the end of October. Krause registered points in all but one game, and enjoyed two four-point nights. For his three-year Premier career, Krause passed the century mark and now has 115 points in 98 games.
Forward Honorable Mention: Gavin Elkins, Toledo Cherokee
Defensemen
Leo Crawford, Toledo Cherokee
Crawford (‘04/Perrysburg, Ohio) has helped the Cherokee to a 12-1-0-0 record and a .923 winning percentage, second best in all of the Premier. The Cherokee are also third in team goals against with a 1.64, one of just three teams league-wide to average under two goals against per game. Crawford was also strong offensively, going on two separate four-game point streaks to give himself a 1-12-13 line in 10 games.
Michal Jansa, Columbus Mavericks
Jansa (‘07/Česká Třebová, Czechia) has been a great addition for the Mavs, a young player who certainly has been showing potential for higher levels of junior hockey. He posted three goals and added 15 points with a 1.25 points per game average in 12 contests.
Defenseman Honorable Mention: Jake Taylor, Metro Jets
Goaltender
Rostislav Efremov, Metro Jets
Efremov (‘04/Vladivostok, Russia) has been outstanding to start the undefeated Jets’ season. He himself went 4-0-0-0 through the end of October with a 1.25 goals against average and .950 save percentage, with both the GAA and save percentage ranking second league-wide. A second-year Jet, he recorded his first shutout with 31 saves on Sept. 28 against the rival Toledo Cherokee.
Goaltender Honorable Mention: Austin Nowak, Toledo Cherokee
Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
