Forwards
Roman Wolynec, Seattle Totems
The third-year Premier standout Wolynec (‘05/Langley, B.C.) absolutely blasted out to the scoring lead for the league, putting up 13 goals and 36 assists for 49 points in 13 games. He is averaging 3.77 points per game and is on pace for a full-season of 165 points, a total which would be the single season mark set last year of 147 by former Fresno Monster Noak Persson.
Xaver Palla, Seattle Totems
Palla (‘06/Gyor, Hungary) posted a line of 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 13 games, an average of 2.46 points per game. He and his twin brother Felix Palla – see below – injected a ton of aggressive offensive energy into the team, with Xaver scoring in every game so far. That included a run of four straight four-point games between Sept. 21 and Oct. 4.
Kasper Pohjala, Vernal Oilers
Pohjala (‘05/Helsinki, Finland) joined the Oilers in early October from his home country, and was immediately productive for the 13-0 undefeated team. Pohjala put up six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in six games, an average of 2.83 points per game to start his North American career.
Forward Honorable Mention: Wilhelm Rosdahl Folkesson, Seattle Totems
Defensemen
Felix Palla, Seattle Totems
Xaver Palla’s twin brother Felix led the league in goals by a defenseman with eight coming out of October, and his 21 points ranked second among all Premier defensemen. He started his North American hockey career with a 1-3-4 game on Sept. 20 and also picked up five points in a later game.
Marek Mraz, Iron County Yeti
The Yeti have had their share of first-year struggles, but they’ve also picked up some wins thanks to determined play of athletes like Mraz (‘06/Kolin, Czechia). Through 11 games, Mraz ranked second in goals by a defenseman with seven, and added seven assists for 14 points, an average of 1.27 points per game. Mraz also earned his first NCDC call-up on Halloween with the Rock Springs Grizzlies – USPHL Advancement In Action!
Defenseman Honorable Mention: Konstantin Los, Rogue Valley Royals
Goaltender:
Levente Hegedus, Vernal Oilers
The second-year Oilers goalie has started out completely undefeated, standing at 10-0 overall, and he’s done it by posting a 2.17 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. He started the season with a shutout on Sept. 21 and just kept winning from that point onward. He has a 26-4-2-0 career record with a .933 save percentage.
Goaltender Honorable Mention: Cole Fennema, Seattle Totems
Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
