USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: Atlantic and Canada Divisions

Atlantic Division 

Forward: Koichiro Matsudaira, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Matsudaira (‘06/Kitasakugun, Japan) had a strong showing in taking three points from a weekend series against the Rockets Hockey Club. He scored twice and added one assist, giving him 22 points in 24 games, and 47 points over 66 career games. 

 

Defense: Mattias Dorey, Rockets Hockey Club

Dorey (‘07/Raritan, N.J.) scored a goal during the Rockets’ Thanksgiving weekend series against the WBS Knights. He has two goals – both on the power play and seven points this season. In two years with the Rockets, he has played in 56 Premier games. 

 

Goaltender: Riley Gorman, Elmira Impact 

Gorman (‘04/Odessa, Texas) went through the weekend with a 1-1 record, stopping 49 of 51 shots, including in a 22-save shutout victory, giving him a .961 save percentage for the weekend. Overall for this season, Gorman has a 13-4-0-0 record. 

 

Canada Division 

Forward: Nathan Hovila, College Universel Gatineau

Hovila (‘06/Ottawa, ONt.) rang up two goals and two assists in a single victory against the Montreal Black Vees, giving him a season high as part of his 18-point season so far through 18 games. 

 

Defense: Elyo Nassar, College Universel Gatineau 

Nassar (‘05/Val-des-Monts, Que.) put up a 1-3-4 line as Gatineau defeated Montreal by a 10-5 score. These accounted for four of his six points on this season so far, with 23 games. 

 

Goaltender: Aristidis Panoskaltsis, Kingston Wranglers 

Panoskaltsis (‘04/Montreal, Que.) made some history by stopping 45 of 47 shots as the Wranglers earned their first win on Dec. 1 against the Black Vees. This came only a day after stopping 76 of 83 shots in a loss to the Hawkesbury Knights. Overall, he went 1-1 with a .931 save percentage for the two games. 

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
