USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: Midwestern Region

Games of Sept. 17-23, 2024

Midwest Division

Forward: Collin Harrington, Chicago Cougars

Harrington (‘04/Sauk Prairie, Wis.) put up a 2-2-4 line for the Cougars in their 2024-25 season opening weekend, which saw them come out with a split against the Fort Wayne Spacemen. In the Cougars’ five-goal comeback win on Saturday, Harrington scored two goals – including the tying goal – and then assisted on the game-winner.

Defense: Trey Henderson, Chicago Cougars

The returning Cougars blueliner Henderson (‘05/Scottsdale, Ariz.) enjoyed a productive three-assist weekend to push the Cougars in an opening 1-1 series. Henderson assisted on each of the Cougars’ first three goals after they were down 4-0 en route to an eventual 5-4 comeback win.

Goaltender: Nick Gingold, Chicago Cougars

A second-year Premier veteran, Gingold (‘05/Flagstaff, Ariz.) put together a fantastic first win of the season for himself and the Cougars, stopping 39 of 43 shots in the aforementioned comeback victory.

North Division

Forward: Carsen Thorson, Isanti Outlaws

Thorson (‘04/St. Francis, Minn.) is a third-year Outlaw who was dominant over the weekend, with three goals and three assists for six points. They split the weekend against the Northwest Express, who were opening their USPHL existence.

Defense: Mathias Mader, Minnesota Squatch

Second-year Premier veteran Matthias Mader (‘04/Maria Lanzendorf, Austria) has registered a 3-1-4 line, coming off of a 32-point season last year.

Goaltender: Liam Luther, Isanti Outlaws

Luther (‘05/Duluth, Minn.) is in his second Premier season, and earned a big win to kick off the Outlaws’ 2024-25 campaign. He stopped 54 out of 57 shots faced against the Northwest Express.

Great Lakes Division

Forward: Caden Cavalieri, Columbus Mavericks

Welcome back to the Players of the Week, Caden. His return to this honor should be no surprise, as he is currently the leading scorer in the Premier with 20 points through six games. His most recent addition to those numbers was a line of 4-4-8 put up against Battle Creek and Toledo this past weekend, including his second six-point game of the season. He put up 3-3-6 against Battle Creek on Sept. 20 after scoring 4-2-6 on Sept. 7 against Cincinnati.

Defense: Michal Jansa, Columbus Mavericks

Another early returning player here, Jansa (‘07/Czechia) is the current scoring leader among USPHL Premier defensemen with an overall line of 2-9-11. He gathered a goal and four assists for five points during the past couple games against Battle Creek and Toledo.

Goaltender: Caleb Kril, Toledo Cherokee

Kril (‘04/Dexter, Mich.) stopped 25 of 26 shots to come up with his first victory of the season, standing as one of three Cherokee netminders to have each registered at least one win.
