USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: Midwestern Region

Great Lakes Division

Forward: Thomas Eggleston, Columbus Mavericks 

Eggleston (‘05/Massena, N.Y.) added two goals and two assists to his name on Jan. 10, scoring the game-winning goal for the Columbus Mavericks in his 50th career game. In his second Premier season, he has 37 points across 28 games. He has 45 career points (20 goals; 25 assists) and is the team’s second-highest-scoring player this season.

 

Defense: Jake Taylor, Metro Jets 

Taylor (‘05) scored six points over two games last week, averaging three points per game. The Metro Jets blueliner is in his third Premier season, with 109 career games and 82 career points under his belt. He is the highest-scoring defenseman for the Metro Jets this season, with 33 points. His outstanding defense work named him to the Midwest/Great Lakes/North Premier team for the 2025 All-Star Game.

 

Goaltender: Andrew Parmentier, Metro Jets

Parmentier (‘04) went 1-0 last week, winning with a 22-save shutout for the Metro Jets on Jan. 11. He is 8-4-0-0 in his third Premier season with a .928 save percentage. Across his three years with the Premier League, he has seven shutout wins to his name. 

Midwest Division

Forward: Jason Gongol, Chicago Crush 

Gongol (‘05) averaged 2.67 points per game last week, scoring two goals and registering six assists across three games with the Chicago Crush. The rookie has played 19 games in his inaugural season, with 27 points (13 goals; 14 assists) to his name. Gongol is currently on a seven-game points streak that he began on Dec. 6.

 

Defense: Jack Backstrom, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

Backstrom (‘05/Fort Wayne, Ind.) posted six assists across three games with the Fort Wayne Spacemen last week. The blueliner is in his second Premier season and has 18 career points across 35 games. He has 16 points (two goals; 14 assists) and counting this season.

 

Goaltender: Christopher Gingras, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

Gingras (‘04/Montreal, Que.) made 65 saves on 67 shots over two games last week for a 0.65 goals against average. The Fort Wayne Spacemen goaltender captured a 17-save shutout win on Jan. 10, his second ever. He is 5-3-0-1 in his first Premier season with a .913 save percentage.

North Division

Forward: Preston Lundbohm, Northwest Express 

Lundbohm (‘05/Roseau, Minn.) added eight points to his scorecard, averaging 2.67 points per game over three games with the Northwest Express last week. In his first Premier season, he has 60 points (24 goals; 36 assists) across 29 games. He is the team’s points leader and cracked the top 10 highest-scoring players in the Premier League.

 

Defense: Connor Corcoran, Northwest Express 

Corcoran (‘05/Haverhill, Mass.) scored two goals and posted four assists with the Northwest Express last week. The team’s highest-scoring defenseman, he surpassed a milestone 50 career points in his first Premier season, currently at 51. His notable skills named him to the Midwest/Great Lakes/North Team for the 2025 Premier All-Star Game.

 

Goaltender: Rylan Freshwater, Northwest Express 

Freshwater (‘05/McDonough, Ga.) was a star goaltender for the Northwest Express last week, going 3-0 with two shutouts: a 26-save win on Jan. 10 and a 27-save shutout on Jan. 9. He garnered a .958 save percentage with a 1.30 goals against average over three games last week. He is 16-4-0-2 in his first Premier season with a .923 saver percentage.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
