P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 5, Elmira Impact 2
The No. 7 seed P.A.L. pulled off the 7v2 upset win against the higher-seeded host Elmira Impact. They will advance to face the No. 6 Rockets Hockey Club in the Atlantic semifinal round as all four advancing Atlantic teams were the 5-8 seeds.
Brett LoGelfo, a veteran of 130 Premier regular season games with 178 points, scored twice including the game-and series-winner. James Clifford led with two goals and one assist, and each of Ryu Shirozu, Zachary Casinghino and Joe Sousa each had two assists. Avery Hite stopped 46 of 48 shots in the win, while Elmira’s Riley Gorman made 40 saves on 45 shots.
Mercer Chiefs 6, Red Bank Generals 1
Also in the Atlantic Division today, the Mercer Chiefs won their Game 3 against the No. 4 seeded host Red Bank Generals in a battle of two first-year Premier teams. Mercer won 6-1, with Lucas Collins scoring two goals, and eight other Chiefs had a point apiece. In net, Edouard Piche stopped 23 of 24 shots for the win.
Hampton Roads Whalers 4, Charlotte Rush 1
The 2024-25 chapter of the greatest rivalries in junior hockey has come to an end. Hampton Roads Whalers won 4-1 against their historic rivals the Charlotte Rush, and will move on to the Southeast Division Championships Tuesday against the Potomac Patriots. Wyatt Teubert and Hayden Barr each had one goal and one assist, Sam Pfeiffer had two assists, Noel Wargloo scored the GWG and Timo Johner made 40 saves on 41 shots. Tomorrow at 1 p.m., the Whalers will face the Patriots in must-win territory to force a Game 2 in the series. A Patriots win would qualify them for the USPHL Nationals.
Metro Jets Development Program 6, Motor City Gamblers 2
Good things came in twos for the MJDP. Besides this being Game 2, the MJDP squad saw three two-goal scorers in Christopher Otero (GWG), Matthew Hopersburger and Noah Bodurka. They also saw three players send out two assists – Marshall Maracle, Max Rastello, and McKenna Baker III. William Belitski made 18 saves for the win. MJDP and the Gamblers play Game 3 at noon EST Tuesday.
Minnesota Mullets 4, Dells Ducks 0
The Mullets registered a 2-1 series victory with a 4-0 win Monday night against the Dells Ducks. Kody Niederkorn was the star for the Mullets with 32 saves on 32 shots. Dylan Herold scored the first and game-winning goal in the match-up that also saw Nolan Gentry post two assists. The Ducks’ Maximilian Pierce put up 34 saves on 37 shots. The Mullets advance to the North semifinals and remain the No. 4 seed against the No. 1 Minnesota Squatch, with that series beginning Friday evening at 7:15 p.m. EST.
