He calls Lake Worth, Fla., home, but North Andover, Massachusetts, may as well be right around the corner for Jesper Seeberg. And now his life’s neighborhood will also soon include Westfield, Mass. For the last five years, Seeberg has worn the Orange, Blue and White of the Islanders Hockey Club, starting with a season of 16U hockey and progressing through four USPHL Premier seasons and two NCDC campaigns. Talk about dedication.
His next stop is NCAA hockey, as he has committed to Westfield State University, and is getting ready this spring and summer for the start of what he hopes will be another productive four years in one place.
“Westfield State was an easy decision after talking with Head Coach Bob Miele during the USPHL Nationals. He immediately expressed his interest in me as a player, and as someone who believes my style of game fits in perfectly with their team,” said Seeberg, who joined the IHC for the Nationals in both 2022 and 2024. IHC made the National Championship game this year, before falling in OT to the Connecticut Jr. Rangers.
“After seeing the Westfield State rink and their newly redone locker room, those factors influenced my decision to want to commit there. On top of that, I am excited to spend my next four years on this beautiful campus and enjoy the amenities that are offered at the school,” Seeberg added. “I will be majoring in accounting and I’m looking forward to the smaller class sizes, which will make for easier interaction with the professors as well as classmates to pursue my degree.”
When the dust had settled on this 2023-24 season, Seeberg had played in 195 total regular season and playoff games for the Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL 16U (now THF), USPHL Premier and NCDC. A 2023-24 USPHL Premier New England Division All-Star, Seeberg scored 31 points in 33 games and 11 points in 10 playoff games. For his Premier career, he scored 99 points in 98 regular season games and another 15 points in 17 career playoff games.
His two NCDC seasons saw him put up 17 points in 51 games.
“There’s a reason I returned to IHC for five years. Both Coach Tim Kyrkostas [NCDC] and Coach Jay Punsky [Premier] do a great job of getting their players college exposure and moving them on to the next level. The well-rounded structure of IHC is what helped me further develop my game for the collegiate level. Both on and off ice training, as well as one on one video sessions, really influenced my game. It gave me the opportunity to be a student of the game and learn from my mistakes so I was able to fix the little flaws in my game,” Seeberg said. “I’m just grateful for my time spent with this organization and am really looking forward to bringing my game to the next level.”
Prior to joining the Islanders in 2019, he had played youth and eventually Midget hockey for the former Palm Beach Hawks in Lake Worth. His coach growing up was none other than current NCDC GM/Head Coach Tim Kyrkostas.
“Playing for Coach Timmy K growing up here in Florida and hearing that he was moving to the Islanders Hockey Club is what brought me there. The program’s successful background and history also lured me into playing for the organization,” Seeberg said. “I’m really grateful for the friendships and tight bonds made during my time here with not only the players, but the coaches as well.”
Seeberg is preparing for the next chapter in an already busy career.
“Since the season came to an end, I have been mainly focused on getting quicker and stronger,” he said. “After watching many games at the NCAA D3 level, I realized that speed and quickness is a crucial aspect of the game in order to be able to keep up with the pace. It is a much faster game compared to junior hockey and I’m looking forward to the challenge of adjusting to it.”
