Vipers come back to beat Vees in game-seven overtime

Michael McNicholas scored 2:06 into overtime after Colton Sparrow and Brett Mulcahy scored third-period goals as the Vernon Vipers came back to beat the Penticton Vees 4-3 in game seven of the Interior Division Final.

Sparrow had a goal and two assists, Mulcahy had two goals and McNicholas added an assist to go along with his overtime winner.

Ben Dalpe opened the scoring for the Vees with an early goal but Mulcahy replied with his first of the game 16 seconds later and the game was tied after one. Cody DePourcq and Steen Cooper put Penticton ahead by two going into the third but Sparrow and Mulcahy erased that lead with third period goals 1:13 apart.

Austin Smith stopped 23 of 26 shots for the win for Vernon who now look ahead to round three when they begin round-robin play Friday on the road against the Victoria Grizzlies. Vees forward Brad McClure had two assists in the loss and now leads the playoffs with 21 points.
