Watertown South Dakota Approves Lease For NAHL Team

In a vote that was expected to voice approval for an NAHL team to be located in the new Prairie Lakes Ice Arena, the Watertown City Council voted unanimously to approve a lease for the team.

According to sources in Watertown, concerns regarding the public having access to the lease terms, and NAHL team ownership group information were voiced. The lease itself is said to have been redacted to remove mention of the interested ownership group.

Of note, the NAHL has yet to officially approve the ownership group for membership, but has approved the lease agreement and its terms.

Negotiations in Watertown have been lengthy. Roughly three years of talks between the NAHL and the City of watertown have brought this deal to completion.

The NAHL is expected to give final approval within the next ninety days.
