OGDEN MUSTANGS VS. UTAH OUTLIERS
Ogden Mustangs 1, Utah Outliers 3
The Ogden Mustangs dropped its first game at The Ice Sheet losing to the Outliers by a pair of goals in a rare Tuesday game. Xavier Erickson and Miroslav Hradecky each registered a goal and an assist to pave the way for victory.
Ogden had the majority of opportunities out chancing Utah by about double their production.
Oscar Wahlgren stopped 50 shots keeping Ogden from the scoreboard and erasing the crowd as a factor in the game. David Subrink found his first goal as a Mustang, the team’s only goal, beating Wahlgren at 11:02 of the third period.
Jett Arminen was awarded the game-winner when he sunk the goal unassisted, late in the second at 1:51. His goal followed Hradecky’s tally, which opened the scoring at 6:35 of the middle frame.
Utah has defeated Ogden on two occasions making them the only team in the league with multiple wins against the Mustangs this season.
OGDEN MUSTANGS VS SEATTLE TOTEMS

After facing Utah, the Mustangs made the trip to the state of Washington for a three game set against the Seattle Totems. The game marked the first time these two clubs faced each other this season and the Totems wanted to make a statement.
It didn’t start pretty, but a three-goal rally uplifted the Totems and Bryson Rody found the game-winner one minute into overtime to stun the top seeded Mustangs. It was clear that Seattle needed to acclimate to a heavy game as they were held to zero shots in the opening frame.
Ogden got out to the 2-0 lead after Shane Gilbert and Harry Gulliver scored in the first. The Mustangs could extend the lead to 3-0 at 9:52 of the middle frame as Bryson Bartell got on the board.
The second half of the game tilted only in the scoreboard as Seattle still couldn’t keep up with the amount of shots that Ogden was producing. Cory Kane found his first of two goals to spark the rally in the second.
Seattle scored two goals in nine shots in the third period. Kane’s second of the night brought it to within one, but Steven Brachert sent the game to overtime with 11 seconds left in the game.
Seattle becomes the first team this season to overcome a three goal deficit to defeat the Ogden Mustangs.
Ogden Mustangs 4, Seattle Totems 2

The Mustangs put up 23 more shots than the previous night and the extra effort paid off, as they were able to get back in the win column. Seattle lacked the same scoring efficiency though they also upped their production.
David Subrink and Bryson Bartell both had a goal and an assist while Caleb Dolman registered two helpers. In total, it was eight different players who cashed in points for the win.
Albin Modin led both teams with two power play goals while Ricky Bredberg assisted on both plays for Seattle. The Totems did have a lead after Modin’s second of the night beat Matthew Genter at 7:17 of the second stanza.
This time it was Ogden who needed inspiration for a comeback and they found it when Subrink leveled the game 2-2 at 5:26 of the second. The Mustangs continued with two unanswered goals in the third period as Aidan Mcaleer reached the game-winner, and Hayden Masterson put one home for insurance.
Genter earned his 10th win of the season and remains undefeated. Emil Svartbro collected his first point as a Mustang since being acquired from Las Vegas.

The Seattle Totems were blanked at Olympicview Arena for the first time this season to conclude their weekend series against Ogden. Shane Gilbert and Harry Gulliver had a pair of goals each making the difference in this match.
Seattle had the least amount of shots on Sunday compared to their first two outings with a stagnant six shots per period. Titan Anderson stopped all 18 shots to earn his third shutout and seventh win—he remains undefeated in regulation.
The Mustangs got it going with a power play goal in the first and second periods thanks to Gilbert and Subrink. Ogden added three even-strength goals, one in the second and two in the third.
UTAH OUTLIERS VS. BELLINGHAM BLAZERS

Five straight goals gave the Outliers enough space to absorb a Blazer’s three-goal push in the second.
Former West Sound Admiral, Randy Yeakley, found his first two goals in the Outlier uniform, and Jett Arminen had a pair of his own along with one helper to lead the team.
Javin Billings, Milo Schneidmiller, and Simeon Smith scored the consecutive goals for Bellingham who could only cut the lead in half.

Utah scored three decisive goals to get out to the 3-0 lead in the first period.
Micah Hershey had an easy night facing only four shots per period as the Outliers vastly overwhelmed the Blazers. Hershey earned his first shutout and sixth win of the season.
Josef Bajer had two goals; Jakub Lelek, Jett Arminen and Andrei Shmakov each scored one goal to reach five unanswered.

For the second time in as many nights, the Blazers were shutout at home as the Outliers close out with three straight tallies in the third period.
Oscar Wahlgren continues to add to his league-leading shutout total, and secures his sixth shutout of the season, 12th win. Wahlgren stopped 23 shots with a gradual increase in shot volume as the game wore on.
Jakub Lelek scored two goals and one assist, Nikita Andrusenko had one goal and two helpers leaving both skaters with three points. Five different Outliers had multiple point outings to oust Bellingham.
The Blazers fall nine points behind third place, Seattle, while Utah moves to a 24-point advantage over the Totems.
LAS VEGAS THUNDERBIRDS VS. VALENCIA FLYERS

The Thunderbirds haven’t been to Valencia Ice Station since late October and the long-awaited return resulted in a 6-1 triumph over division opponent Valencia Flyers. The Thunderbirds are carrying on after trading their Top-4 players to other teams.
Joseph Wheeler stands out as the top point producer in this game with two goals and one assist. Kiel Nance seconds his effort with a goal and a helper. Joseph Terrana was the only other player with multiple points as he had two assists.
Nance and Wheeler got on the board 48-seconds apart from each other to take an initial 2-0 lead. Nicholas Bonaldi made it 3-0 at 14:44 of the second.
Valencia could only count on Nikita Garin to get them on the board and his lone goal registered at 11:34 of the second period on the power play. The teams would go to the locker rooms at 3-1, before the Thunderbirds continued with three more tallies in the third period.
Anthony Rodriguez found the back of the net at 9:09 while Wheeler scored unassisted at 5:38, and Sotirou added the sixth and final goal with 6.8 seconds on the clock.
LAS VEGAS THUNDERBIRDS VS. FRESNO MONSTERS

Las Vegas made its first trip to Selland Arena on Saturday but met monstrous resistance as Fresno pulled away with four, second period goals. Thunderbirds and Monsters haven’t played each other since opening the 2019-2020 season with four straight games.
It was a totally different Vegas outlook since their first four games; however, the hands of nine distinct players gave the Monsters its first win over Las Vegas this season. Narek Aleksanyan scored a goal and registered an assist, and Ty Wright had two assists as both players led with two points.
Joseph Wheeler got on the board in consecutive nights beating Sebastian Nilsson to open the scoring at 15:01 of the first. John McDonald was assessed a tripping penalty at 18:42 of the second period and the Monsters capitalized on the man advantage with a goal from Zackory Turpin.
The game went scoreless until the final five minutes of the middle period when Fresno found a second wind to pot three successive goals. Triston Mirasty, Aleksanyan, and William Markstedt each scored respectively to make it 4-1.
Nilsson stopped all 10 third period shots to hold on for the victory.
Las Vegas Thunderbirds 6, Fresno Monsters 7(OT)

Las Vegas took it to the Monsters on Sunday forcing a 13-goal game at Selland Arena. Both teams had hat-trick scorers in Mikhail Gravilenko for Fresno, and Anthony Rodriguez for Las Vegas.
Antoine Dumoulin buried the overtime game-winner at 2:01 after the Thunderbirds scored consecutive goals to tie it up 6-6 with eight seconds left in the third period.
Some players make big impacts in the goal department, but Philippov could easily be a No. 1 star having first-assists in four consecutive scoring plays for the Monsters. He assisted in the three goals that gave Fresno their first lead of the game at 12:30 of the second.
Rodriguez was able to tie it up for Las Vegas 3-3, before Philippov found his fourth assist in a row, feeding his teammate, and regaining the lead for the Monsters—he finished the night with five assists.
The Monsters remain undefeated at home with nine wins between Selland Arena and Gateway Ice Center.
VALENCIA FLYERS VS. SAN DIEGO SABERS
Valencia Flyers 4, San Diego Sabers 7

Valencia continued the weekend by hosting the visiting Sabers who are itching for points as they tail the Thunderbirds for second place in the division. Valencia came back from an initial deficit but the Sabers were able to power through.
Ondrej Vaculik scored two goals and 12 players for San Diego had points to edge the Flyers. Valencia’s Lucas Demsar had a pair of goals himself but the team couldn’t vie for the same concerted effort that San Diego had. Six Flyers registered points.
Valencia converted on a power play and shorthanded bid to take a 2-1 lead. The Sabers would respond with three straight tallies in the second period to take the 4-2 lead by 9:01.
Demsar found the back of the net again, cutting it to 4-3, on the Flyer’s fourth power play opportunity of the night.
A second set of goals followed for the Sabers as Dante Hubick and Patr Teuber converted, swelling the margin to 6-3.
Valencia Flyers 2, San Diego Sabers 9

San Diego found its highest scoring game of the season thus far with nine goals at the Valencia Ice Station in Game 2 of the weekend series.
The Flyers were able to hold off San Diego in the first, but eventually the Sabers grew agitated and erupted with five goals in the second period.
Seven different skaters scored goals for the Sabers and Benjamin Aakesson snapped his five game scoring drought with a couple tallies of his own.
Lucas Demsar and Evgenii Semeniuk make up the duo of goal-getters for Valencia.
Valencia Flyers 2, San Diego Sabers 6

San Diego Sabers completed a sweep of the Valencia Flyers following their 6-2 win at the Valencia Ice Station.
Although both teams tied for shots in the opening frame, San Diego ignited the scoring on a single goal. Once the second period started, however, the Sabers moved to the insurmountable 5-0 lead.
Deniss Berdniks scored a short-hander for San Diego as they made it 4-0. Valencia’s Leon Biller scored on a ringer at 15:48 of the third in an effort to chip away. The Flyers would concede a sixth before Nikita Garin managed a pretty goal in the closing minutes of the game.
Mikulas Pluhacek made 33 saves to backstop the Sabers who now take control of the second spot in the division.
BARRHEAD BOMBERS VS. EDSON AEROS
The game between the Bombers and Aeros was forced to be postponed as inclement weather in Northern Edmonton made for unsafe travel conditions.

Barrhead Bombers 9, Meadow Lake Mustangs 4

The Barrhead Bombers are back in the win column after defeating the Meadow Lake Mustangs in their first game of 2020. Both goalies faced over 50 shots as the Bombers’ Sotlar made 49 saves to limit the Mustangs to four goals.
14 individual players registered points as Stran Backfat Redcrow, Riley Smith, and Mykyta Protsenko all tied with three. Erik Ehrmantruat scored two goals and one assist for Meadow Lake, while Geordie Janvier led all skaters with one goal and three assists to equal four points.
Both clubs got on the board twice in the first period with the Bombers opening fire at 12:11 on a goal by Redcrow. The Mustangs managed two goals to take the 2-1 lead, including a 4-on-4 goal at 1:50 of the opening frame. Barrhead squeezed in a 4-on-4 goal as well, just 14 seconds subsequent to the Mustangs goal, and made it 2-2 going into the second.
The Bombers struck on seven occasions beginning with a two-man advantage and a regular power play at the midway point of the second frame.
Barrhead Bombers 7, Meadow Lake Mustangs 3

Barrhead won back-to-back games for the first time since defeating the Cold Lake Hornets in their first two games of the season in early October.
Serhii Poimanov scored two goals taking the lead among all skaters and Dmitro Kobylnyk had the most points with a goal and two assists. This time it was 10 total players who aided in the winning effort.
Meadow Lake’s Erik Ehrmantraut, Ostin Fontain, and Chase Caron each had a single goal as the Mustangs started with the 2-0 lead in the first.
Riley Smith got a goal in just before the first intermission and cut the lead in half. But the second period proved to be all Bombers who capitalized on four attempts to gain a three-goal lead.
The three-goal lead quickly turned to a four-goal lead when Carter Zawortny found the back of the net at 17:53 of the third.
With the win, the Bombers leap frog the Hornets and are one point from the Mustangs who are barely holding onto third place with 21-points.
OKLAHOMA CITY BLAZERS VS. PUEBLO BULLS

Andrei Vasile’s hat trick was overshadowed by four different scorers provided by the Bulls in Game 1 of the series; Pueblo earns a big win over their division’s second-place team.
The Bulls weren’t phased by the Blazer’s opening frame goal answering back with three goals to take a 3-1 lead in the second period.
Ondrej Blaha registered two points on a goal and a helper, Kaleb Lone and John Henderson each had a pair of assists.
Joel Svensson kept the game from getting out-of-reach making 38 saves, including 20 in the second period, with the Bulls pressuring and out chancing for the majority of the match.
Oklahoma City Blazers 3, Pueblo Bulls 6

The Pueblo Bulls move to fourth in the Midwest-Mountain Division with their second win in as many nights, over the Oklahoma City Blazers. Ondrej Blaha put the team on his back scoring five of their six goals and adding an assist for a six point night.
Ethan Knudsen made it 2-0 for Pueblo at 15:16 of the first period before the Blazers found a pair of goals in the frame to tie it up 2-2. Blaha could squeeze a third goal before the period ended and then continued with four straight goals to steer the Bulls to a victory.
Lane Skon made 35 saves for Pueblo earning his fourth win of the season.
Oklahoma City Blazers 6(OT), Pueblo Bulls 5

Matej Hajek scored two goals including the overtime game-winner to deny the Pueblo Bulls their first sweep of 2020.
Brigham Neuhold scored two goals and had two helpers and Michael Power registered four assists as both tied with four points to lead all skaters.
Andrei Ivanov led the Bulls with three assists and Brock McQuistan scored twice.
Connor Whittington sent the game to overtime when he found the Bull’s fifth goal at 4:40 of the third frame on the power play. The goal capped off three straight special team efforts between the two clubs with the Blazers converting on a pair of man advantages to take a 5-4 lead late in the third.
Pueblo took advantage of three additional special team efforts to stay in the race, including a two-man advantage in the first, a power play in the second, and a 4-on-4 in the second as well.
The game proved to be a very physical affair as the teams combined for 76 PIMs, and the Blazers claiming majority on 50-minutes.
EL PASO RHINOS VS. WICHITA JR. THUNDER

The Rhinos worked the Jr. Thunder and routed them 12-0 scoring four goals in the first, five in the second, and three in the third frame. Sawyer Schmidt earns a league leading 15 wins and his third shutout of the season with 15 saves in the night.
Marcus Ohlsson-Ornelius scored a hat trick and registered five points, six additional Rhinos scored at least three points. WSHL All-Time Goals leader, Tomas Urbanec, added a goal and two points to his name and inches closer to Jakob Kranabetter’s All-Time Points Record of 351 regular season points.
El Paso Rhinos 7, Wichita Jr. Thunder 2

Wichita could bid for a tying effort but wasn’t able to gain a lead over the Rhinos who cleared the Jr. Thunder with three goals in the third.
Two goals each from Dylan Fontaine and Sam Sykes kept El Paso ahead and three more Rhinos registered points.
Wichita got on the board when Braeden Thomas and Thien Gamble found twine before the halfway mark of the game.
El Paso possessed the puck in overwhelming fashion outshooting the Thunder 62-16.
El Paso Rhinos 5, Wichita Jr. Thunder 1

Five different Rhinos made it happen for El Paso as Brett Postula and Marcus Ohlsson-Ornelius scored on consecutive power plays to gain a 2-0 lead.
Corey Steinbarger was the lone scorer for Wichita and cut the Rhinos lead to 2-1 when he got past Sawyer Schmidt at 10:26 of the middle stanza.
Wichita found more production but it was Robert Allen’s 69 saves that kept El Paso from blowing the lid on the score. El Paso regained the two-goal lead late in the second with goals from Tomas Urbanec and Dominic Erdt.
Scmidt now moves to 16 wins and takes a two-game advantage over the next leading goaltender, Gregory Smith.
HINTON TIMBERWOLVES VS. COLD LAKE HORNETS

Cold Lake suffers its greatest defeat and the Hinton Timberwolves move to first place in the Provincial Division with consecutive shutout wins.
The Timberwolves opened a 7-0 lead in the first period of Game 1 and Kolter Pawlick remained perfect making 26 saves in the game. He earns his fourth win and first shutout as a member of the Hinton Timberwolves.
Hinton’s scoring wasn’t so front-ended in Game 2 as they pushed to the 2-0 lead in the opening frame.
Ilya Zhilinsky and Mario De Capite each had two goals, Jamahl Eaket led with five points, and Dorian Hall registered three points.
Adam Robertson made 16 saves and reached his 12th win and fifth shutout of the season, trailing Oscar Wahlgren by one shutout for most in the league.
