WHL Power Rankings: Week 22

…Whose Haus?

1. Calgary Hitmen
2nd Central- 38-15-3-2

Calgary Hitmen goalie Daniel Hauser has put up three straight shutouts to vault his team to the top of the WHL Power Rankings for the first time this season.

The reigning WHL Goaltender of the Week has tied a franchise record for consecutive shutouts and even has a shot at becoming the winningest goaltender in WHL history before the end of the regular season.

The Hitmen outscored their opposition 13-1 this week with wins over Brandon, Moose Jaw and Swift Current, with Ben Kindel leading the way with three goals and three assists in three games.

The 2025 NHL Draft-eligible forward has surpassed 151 career points and is nine away from hitting the century mark this season.

2. Spokane Chiefs
2nd U.S.- 40-17-1-1

Spokane is putting up mind-boggling numbers with a split against the Americans combined with wins over Portland and Vancouver.

Andrew Cristall (Washington Capitals), Berkly Catton (Seattle Kraken), Shea Van Olm and Owen Martin all put up nine points this week, with Martin’s five goals and four assists leading the pack.

Spokane’s Friday-night match against the Wenatchee Wild is sold out with Catton sitting on 99 points.

The Chiefs Captain looks to become the fifth player in franchise history with multiple hundred-point seasons when puck drops at 7:05 p.m. PST.

3. Medicine Hat Tigers
1st Central- 39-17-3-1

The Central Division leaders continue to top the Eastern Conference standings, having split against Edmonton and shut out the Kamloops Blazers.

WHL Player of the Week Gavin McKenna has another chance to write his name in the WHL history book with his sensational point streak up to 35 games, tying Connor Bedard (Regina Pats) and Logan Stankoven (Kamloops Blazers) for the longest WHL point streak in the league’s internet era (1996-present).

Florida Panthers prospect Hunter St. Martin also potted three goals and an assist while playing his 200th career game, and Tanner Molendyk (Nashville Predators) and Ryder Ritchie (Minnesota Wild) both hit 150 career points.

With less than 10 games left on their regular season slate, the Tabbies head east for a tilt against the Regina Pats.

4. Everett Silvertips
1st U.S.- 40-11-4-3

The Silvertips are still first in the overall standings after see-sawing with a win over Portland and a loss to the surging Thunderbirds.

Dominik Rymon carried the torch for the Tips with two goals, while Landon DuPont picked up a goal and an assist.

Everett is focused on getting healthy ahead of the postseason grind, but they’ll be fired up for a rematch against Seattle at Angel of the Winds Arena on Friday.

5. Victoria Royals
1st B.C.- 34-15-3-6

Victoria is on track to clinch its first division title in nearly a decade after a pair of statement wins against the Prince George Cougars.

2025 NHL Draft-eligible Cole Reschny is up to 80 points with another three assists this week, while Teydon Trembecky’s breakout season has seen him pot his 38th to tie for third in the WHL goals race.

The Royals continue an eight-game homestand with a set against the Portland Winterhawks this weekend.

6. Lethbridge Hurricanes
3rd Central- 37-19-2-1

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have locked down a playoff berth and climbed to sixth in the Power Rankings thanks to a three-game win streak.

Veteran Shane Smith came up big with the shootout winner against Kamloops and an overtime lamp-lighter in Prince Albert.

2024 WHL Champion Jackson Unger also iced his first shutout in a Hurricanes jersey with a 30-save effort against the Saskatoon Blades.

7. Prince Albert Raiders
1st East- 33-19-4-1

Despite the overtime loss to Lethbridge, Prince Albert still earned five of a possible six points against the Canes, Warriors and Pats to hang on to the division lead and set themselves up to potentially clinch a playoff berth on Friday night.

Daxon Rudolph was named WHL Rookie of the Week after racking up six points in four games and Brayden Dube his 100 career points with a goal and three helpers.

The goalie love also continues with veteran Max Hildebrand, who earned his third shutout of the season with 24 saves against the Pats. He also leads all starting netminders in save percentage (.917).

8. Prince George Cougars
2nd B.C.- 33-19-4-2

Despite falling to Victoria, Prince George got back on the horse to sweep a set against Kelowna to punch their playoff ticket.

Matteo Danis’ second career hat trick made the difference in the clinching game at the CN Centre, while Koehn Ziemmer netted three goals and three assists to solidify his third 30-plus goal season.

The Cougars will push to get closer to the B.C. Division lead and home-ice advantage in Round One with a weekend home-and-away against Kamloops.

9. Brandon Wheat Kings
2nd East- 31-18-4-3

The Wheat Kings dusted themselves off after losses to Calgary and Swift Current to take the Wednesday Night in the Dub crown against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Marcus Nguyen’s WNitD goal marked the 100th of his career and the veteran is still awaiting major milestones with 99 career assists and 199 points.

Six different skaters found the back of the net for Brandon this week, while Philadelphia Flyers prospect Carson Bjarnason made 46 saves against Edmonton for his busiest game of the season.

10. Edmonton Oil Kings
4th Central- 32-22-2-2

Netminders across the WHL served up plenty of bagels this week, including Ethan Simcoe’s 22-save clean sheet against Moose Jaw.

Edmonton also brought a pile of grit to a split against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

St. Louis Blues prospect Adam Jecho is still red-hot with five goals and an assist in four games, with Panthers pick Gracyn Sawchyn right next to him with two goals and four helpers.

The Oil Kings close out their East Division road trip with matches against Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

11. Saskatoon Blades
3rd East- 30-19-3-4

A quieter week saw Saskatoon edge Red Deer in overtime before getting blanked by Lethbridge.

Captain Ben Saunderson was in on all three goals (1G-2A) while 2025 NHL Draft-eligible David Lewandowski pocketed the OT winner.

Ethan McCallum also turned aside a combined 65 of 69 shots for a .942 save percentage.

12. Tri-City Americans
4th U.S.- 29-23-3-1

Tri-City is 6-4-0-0 in their last 10 games after taking a win and a loss against Spokane.

Utah Hockey Club prospect Terrell Goldsmith snagged the game-winner against the Chiefs and Lukas Matecha impressed with 32 saves in the 4-2 victory.

Savin Virk has continued his 2025 tear with three more goals and an assist.

Depending on how Friday’s match against the Giants shakes out, Tri-City could be in a position to clinch a return to the postseason as soon as Saturday.

13. Portland Winterhawks
3rd U.S.- 31-23-2-1

A forgettable week saw the Winterhawks go 1-3-0-0, with the lone victory coming in overtime against Wenatchee.

Kyle Chyzowski’s excellent play is still a bright spot, with the Captain putting up four goals and three assists in four games.

The 20-year-old is just eight points away from his first 100-point season.

14. Vancouver Giants
3rd B.C.- 28-23-7-0

Vancouver earned three of a possible four points against the Rockets before stumbling against Wenatchee and Spokane.

Calgary Flames prospect Jaden Lipinski went off for a two-goal, two-assist night in a 5-1 win in Kelowna, while Winnipeg Jets prospect Connor Levis and Montreal Canadiens pick Tyler Thorpe are closing in on big milestones with 97 career goals and 97 career points, respectively.

The G-Men battle the Americans on Friday night in Kennewick, Wash.

15. Seattle Thunderbirds
5th U.S.- 23-29-3-1

The pesky Thunderbirds took a point off of the Wild before shocking Everett with a 3-1 win.

Top 2025 NHL Draft prospect Braeden Cootes and 2024 WHL Champion Brayden Schuurman each potted a goal and two assists each, while top Czechs Matej Peka (1G-1A) and Radim Mrtka (1A) made a strong impact.

Between the pipes, Buffalo Sabres prospect Scott Ratzlaff impressed with a 1.49 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage on the week.

Seattle is two points ahead of Wenatchee with a game in hand as the battle for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference intensifies.

16. Swift Current Broncos
4th East- 29-25-1-1

Swift Current doubled up Brandon for their lone win of the week.

Captain and Seattle Kraken prospect Clarke Caswell picked up a goal and a helper for his first WHL 20-goal season and defenceman Grayson Burzynski found the back of the net twice to be named first star against the Wheat Kings.

Swift Current is set to play its first game on the Wednesday Night in the Dub stage when they visit the Saskatoon Blades next week.
