Big 3rd helps Timmins topple Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock broke open a tight game with six unanswered goals in the third period as they toppled the Iroquois Falls Eskis 7-2 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Jus Jordan Arena.

Iroquois Falls got off to a great start grabbing a 2-0 lead on power play markers from Jacob Erwin and Brett Ouderkirk.

The Rock got one of those back with the lone tally of the middle session as Tristan Salesse connected at 10:46.

It was all Timmins in the third starting with Jordan Rendle’s tying goal 89 seconds in.

Bain Cunningham then notched the eventual game-winner just over a minute later while Ryan Therriault added another man advantage marker at 6:04 to make it 4-2 Timmins.

The Rock kept rolling from there tacking on additional tallies by Salesse, Wayne Mathieu and Rendle to complete the comeback win.

Joe Olson dished out four assists for Timmins while Ryan Kerr had a couple.

David Osborne had helpers on both Eskis markers.

Logan Ferrington made 42 stops to pick up the win with Joe Sheppard facing 51 shots in the loss for Iroquois Falls.
