Brandon Wolfe Heading to NCAA, Salem State

Brandon Wolfe, Pre Draft Combine Alumni now adds his name to the ranks of those that are NCAA players.

Wolf attended the Pre Draft Combine in May of 2015, where he was seen by the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.  After finishing the 2014-2015 season with the Dells Ducks, the fast and gritty forward was looking to get back to the Tier II level of play.

Though several other Tier II opportunities were presented to him, the Gold Miners offered the right blend of experienced coaching and proven development track record to make the decision rather easy.

“Coach Lafleur was hard on me, and in the end made me a more complete hockey player” Said Wolfe “The town was great, the fans were great, and it was good to end my junior career in Kirkland Lake.  Every player takes a different road to college hockey.  Mine had its ups and downs, but I stuck with it, and I want to thank everyone who helped me along the way.”

I began scouting Brandon Wolfe three years ago when he was with the West Michigan Hounds AAA team.  An exceptional work ethic and hunger for the game was evident from the beginning.  If not for a broken jaw while in the NAHL that slowed his development keeping him off the ice for months, there is no question Wolfe would have had NCAA D-1 offers.

Education lasts a lifetime, and hockey will not.  These are the first words I spoke to him.  Brandon made the right decision for him, for his life after hockey.
