Noah Trathen is a firm believer in forming tight bonds that can benefit a team. The two-year Florida Eels forward, who earned Florida Division All-Star honors this past spring, is heading to UMass-Dartmouth later this summer to once again be teammates with former Eels from this past year and prior seasons as well.
“I became familiar with UMass-Dartmouth through my previous [Eels] teammate Collin Patterson. After talking with him and playing in the New England area before juniors, I kind of made up my mind once I visited, saw they had my major, and met a few of the guys on the team,” said Trathen, a native of Fort Myers, also home to the Eels.
Trathen committed to UMass-Dartmouth where he will join not only Patterson, but also fellow 2023-24 Eel Brayden Goddard.
“Brayden’s a great guy. I sat next to him all last year, and I look forward to building our friendship over these next four years,” Trathen added.
Entering the USPHL originally five years ago, Trathen played as part of the Northern Cyclones Academy 16U and 18U teams in 2019-20 and 2020-21, respectively. He split the 2021-22 season between the Eels’ Elite and Premier teams, including a goal-per-game pace in the 2022 Elite playoffs and Nationals (5-4-9 in five games).
Over three Premier seasons, Trathen racked up an outstanding 135 points in 115 combined regular season and playoff games, including two trips to the Premier Nationals. The Eels reached the National Semifinal round both years. His 120 points in the regular season place him 10th all-time in Eels history, and his 56th goals are the sixth-most for the Eels, and his 73 points this season mark the second best single season points performance for an Eel.
“Our General Manager Frank Scarpaci, Head Coach Frankie Scarpaci not only helped me perform and get better, but they also taught me discipline, to never give up, and to work hard in every rep and every shift,” said Trathen, of his time with the Eels.
Trathen is preparing to go full-tilt throughout the summer to be the very best UMass-Dartmouth Corsair he can be come this fall. He lists the top areas of his game he’s working on.
“Overall speed and quickness, along with giving 100% every second on the ice,” Trathen said.
The USPHL congratulates Noah Trathen, his family, the Florida Eels and UMass-Dartmouth for his commitment.
