Gold Miners Sign Goal Tenders

The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have signed two goaltenders for the upcoming NOJHL season , Tyler Mazzocato and Marc Audet.

Mazzocato, a 17 year old Kirkland Lake, Ontario native played the 2014 – 2015 hockey season for the Great North Midget League for the AAA New Liskeard Cubs. As an 16 year old, the 5’9” and 200 goaltender finished the regular season with a goals against average of 2.89 in 30 regular season games while in the 2015 post – season, Mazzocato played in seven post – season games and had a 2.97 goals against average for the Cubs.

Marc Audet will join the NOJHL Gold Miners after playing the 2014 – 2015 season in the Greater Metro Hockey League with the Almaguin Spartans. The 19 year old Astorville, Ontario goaltender was between the pipes for 16 regular season games and finished the season with a goals against average of 4.91 and a save percentage of .866 in Almaguin. The 6’2” and 170 lbs netminder has seen action in 29 NOJHL regular season games between 2012 – 2014 with the Abitibi Eskimos and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners. Audet’s goals against average in the NOJHL was 3.68 and a .871 saves percentage.

Coach Marc Lafleur says “we expect the same play from them as we saw in camp as well as both pushing each other for minutes. We’re also looking at them to give the players in front of them confidence by knowing they will make big saves when needed.”
