Jake Gevaart moves North to play for the Cochrane Crunch

It’s #CRUNCHTIME,

Jake is a big Power Forward weighing in at 220 lbs and measuring 6’3″.  Jake spent last season playing for the Dallas Junior Stars of the NA3HL.  He played 26 regular season games (missed part of the season due to injury) and had a total of 24 points.  He added another 11 points in 8 games during the playoffs.

This Kalamazoo Michigan native was born on May 20th 1995, which means he could potentially play 2 seasons for YOUR Cochrane Crunch.  Kalamazoo has been called “The Paper City,” for its many paper and cardboard mills.

Jake and I had a very interesting conversation on the phone tonight here is what the Young man had to say;

“I can’t wait to get to Cochrane.  My Dad and I came to visit the town earlier this summer and I really liked what it had going on.  Coach Leonard took us on a tour of the town and we both liked what we seen.

One of our stops was at the Tim Horton Event Centre and I was just blown away.  I would never had thought that I would see a rink like this in Northern Canada.  This Facility has everything a hockey player needs to train.  An amazing gym, a pool, a spin room and a hockey rink all in one building.  Oh and I can’t wait to see the locker room in person.”

Jake is a very level headed young man and he will be a great addition to our community.  He plans on going to College once his Junior Career is done.  He would love to play NCAA Division I or Division III Hockey and while in College he plans on studying to be an Athletic Trainer or the Sports Medicine field.

Join me in welcoming Jake to Cochrane.

Keep your stick on the ice!!!
