Manitoba Junior League Stops Play Until 2021

It took less than a month. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League, had teams breaking the rules to get practice ice outside of Winnipeg, and Manitoba entering an elevated state of COVID awareness.

Those practices and the elevated state of COVID have now forced the MJHL to take the remainder of 2020 off.

The MJHL may be the first, but they likely will not be the last.

Canada is taking COVID infections and risks of infection to junior players much more seriously than the United States. While the USA will keep pressing on, Canada is going to be much more conservative.

Other Canadian leagues have already taken weeks off to let COVID infections dissipate in their regions to minimize risk for players.

Stay tuned as we will update this story as more information becomes available.
