Calgary, Alta.- Six Western Hockey League alumni are among the 25 players named to team Canada for the 2026 Spengler Cup, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.
The tournament, often referred to as the longest-running international tournament in the world, takes place from December 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.

The six WHL graduates include four players- Nolan Allan, Joe Hicketts, Calen Addison, and James Reimer- with NHL experience.
Allan, 22, captained the Prince Albert Raiders before being traded to Seattle, helping the Thunderbirds win the 2023 WHL Championship.
He was also named to the 2023 WHL U.S. Division Second All-Star Team, in addition to winning gold for Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Hicketts, who now captains the AHL’s Ontario Reign, wore a letter for three of his four seasons with the Victoria Royals, including two turns as captain.
The Kamloops, B.C., product collected 173 points (32G-141A) in 224 regular-season WHL games, earning Second All-Star Team honours in 2014-15 and First Team Honours in 2015-16.
Addison, 25, spent parts of five seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, racking up 215 points (41G-174A) in 252 games.
Addison, Allen, Hicketts and Prince George Cougars graduate Taylor Gauthier have all represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
Reimer, a 15-year NHL veteran, has also competed at the IIHF World Championship.
