USPHL Premier 2023-24 Midwest East Division Players Of The Month: December 2023

Summaries by Joshua Boyd / USPHLPremier.com

Forward: Royal St-Cyr, Metro Jets Development Program

St-Cyr (‘03/Montreal, Que.) continues to have an outstanding first full season with the MJDP, recently putting up a 4-11-15 line over the MJDP’s 10 games. This included a run of 2-6-8 during the team’s four games at the USPHL Las Vegas Showcase. St-Cyr currently has 36 points in 29 games on the season, and was a great addition for the Jets program from Le Sommet Academy, currently an Affiliate Member at the USPHL Elite level.

Forward: Robert Grasso, Metro Jets Development Program

Grasso, a third-year MJDP player from Broomfield, Colo., registered a line of 7-5-12 during 10 games over December. Grasso has 22 points in 26 games for the season so far, and for his three-year career, the ‘04 forward has 82 points in 114 games. He also has nine points in the postseason as the MJDP has made three straight Nationals trips and are hoping to make it four this spring.

Forward: Ryan Jaros, Battle Creek Kernels

The second-year Kernel Jaros (‘03/Portage, Mich.) has already more than doubled his 2022-23 output and we still have the bulk of two months to go. With a 4-11-15 line in December, he started the month with a five-point game against the Columbus Mavericks and also picked up five points during the three games he played with the Kernels at the USPHL Las Vegas Showcase. He has 40 points in 30 games after producing 18 points in 40 games last season, the Kernels’ first.

Defense: Jake Taylor, Metro Jets Development Program

Taylor (‘05/Macomb, Mich.) came out of December with a line of 4-8-12 in nine games. Coming out of the Belle Tire program, he first joined the Jets in 2022-23, and has been a rock for the MJDP this season. He has skated in 28 games, putting up a 10-17-27 line and for the past month has been among the time on ice leaders with 20:08 per game and a plus-minus leader with +14.

Defense: Aidan Canady, Chicago Cougars

Canady (‘03/Schaumburg, Ill.) was his usual better than a point-per-game self from the blue line for the Cougars last month, registering six assists in five December games. A returning All-Star from last year, Canady has 26 points in 24 games this season and 92 points in 62 career Premier games. Canady averaged a team-leading 22:21 per game in December.

Goaltender: Andrew Parmentier, Metro Jets Development Program

Parmentier (‘04/New Baltimore, Mich.) won all five games he played in during December, making 118 saves on 125 shots. A big highlight was stopping 27 of 28 shots against the Motor City Gamblers on Dec. 12. For the month, he came across the finish line with a .944 save percentage. He is 12-2-0-1 with a .934 save percentage.

Selection Process: The league media office sends top candidates to divisional coaches for review and coaches either approve or challenge the nominations.
