Being held without bail, Timothy Bodenheimer, 27, had worked as a volunteer assistant coach for a Washington Little Capitals travel team of 13 and 14-year-old boys.
After receiving several complaints from hockey player parents, a Virginia State Police detective went undercover posing as a male 12-year-old hockey player. Before long, the suspect made sexually suggestive comments.
According to court documents, over the next several days, the suspect sent 13 videos of child pornography. Investigators tracked the Instagram account to a Fairfax Station home where they say Bodenheimer’s parents live.
Bodenheimer was arrested over the weekend. Virginia State Police said he faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
The Little Caps have responded to the arrest by issuing the following statement in part;
“Today the Washington Little Capitals are shocked to learn of the arrest of former volunteer coach Tim Bodenheimer. We take the safety and welfare of our players and their families very seriously. If you have information related to Mr. Bodenheimer and any of his alleged actions, please contact the Northern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force [email protected]. The WLC will cooperate in any investigation and we encourage all members of our organization to do the same.”
